Malta is such a beautiful country! It is just two small islands Malta and Gozo. Valletta the capital city is hundreds of years old and officially became the capital in 1571, so it is kinda old! The rocky islands are located south of Sicily and east of Tunisia in the Mediterranean Sea.
One of the most famous and gorgeous hikes is on the southern tip of Malta. It starts just outside of the quaint town of Zurrieq. It begins by hiking into and through Wied Babu (Gorge) and along the southern coast to the Blue Grotto (named because of the massive cathedral like caves and the seas color), then continue past Wied Zurrieq and along the jagged limestone cliffs to Torri tal Hamrija (an old lighthouse). The last section of the trail follows above and beside the sea until Ghar Lapsi and the large parking lot for the TarRita restaurant. I recommend taking some sunscreen and a litre of water per person!

Sliema, Malta 🇲🇹

#sliema is one of Malta’s most popular and lively coastal towns. Located on the northeastern coast of the island, it lies directly across the harbor from Valletta, Malta’s capital city. Sliema is famous for its beautiful Mediterranean coastline, busy shopping streets, modern buildings, and lively atmosphere. It is a popular destination for tourists who want to enjoy both the seaside and the convenience of a modern town.

One of the main attractions in Sliema is its long seafront promenade, which offers beautiful views across the Mediterranean Sea and toward Valletta. The promenade is a great place for walking, jogging, relaxing, and watching the sunset. Visitors can also find rocky beaches and swimming areas along the coast, where they can enjoy the clear, warm waters during the summer.

For visitors interested in history and culture, Sliema is also a convenient base for exploring Valletta and other historic sites around Malta. At the same time, its seaside atmosphere and entertainment options make it an enjoyable place to stay. Overall, Sliema combines beautiful coastal scenery, modern city life, shopping, dining, and easy access to Malta’s historical attractions, making it an excellent destination for a holiday.

🌅Here is my 3 days itinerary

Day 1 – Sliema & Valletta

· Morning: Explore Sliema promenade and waterfront.
· Afternoon: Take the ferry to Valletta and visit the historic city centre.
· Evening: Dinner by the waterfront and enjoy the sunset.

Day 2 – Mdina & Rabat

· Morning: Visit the ancient walled city of Mdina.
· Afternoon: Explore Rabat and nearby historic sites.
· Evening: Return to Sliema and relax by the sea.

Day 3 – Gozo

· Morning: Take a trip to Gozo and explore its villages and coastline.
· Afternoon: Visit the Citadel in Victoria and enjoy the island’s scenery.
· Evening: Return to Malta and have a final dinner in Sliema.

🍝Food you should not miss

· Pastizzi – Flaky pastry filled with ricotta or mushy peas; a classic Maltese snack.
· Stuffat tal-Fenek – Traditional slow-cooked rabbit stew, considered Malta’s national dish.
· Ħobż biż-żejt – Maltese bread topped with tomatoes, olive oil, tuna, capers, and olives.
· Aljotta – Traditional Maltese fish soup flavored with garlic, tomatoes, and herbs.
· Bragioli – Beef rolls stuffed with meat, breadcrumbs, herbs, and other fillings, then slowly cooked in sauce.
· Imqaret – Sweet pastries filled with dates and flavored with spices.
