Jaipur

Along with Agra and Delhi, Jaipur makes up India's Golden Triangle, and is truly one of the country's most captivating cities. The historic center is known as the Pink City and ancient walls still enclose its ruddy Rajasthani architecture (refurbished for the Prince of Wales in 1876) and brightly coloured bazaars. The capital of Rajasthan , Jaipur is also India's first planned city, and has a regular grid of arrow straight streets. An example of rapidly developing India, new shopping malls stand in contrast to slums, and traditions like the yearly Elephant Festival recall the pomp of the Rajputs.
