🇹🇭 : Trang 🌊🏝️🌿
A coastal city on the Andaman Sea with a more relaxed atmosphere than major tourist provinces. It has everything: islands, clear waters, caves, communities, and nature. Trang's coastline is approximately 199 kilometers long and features several prominent islands, making it ideal for those who want a leisurely southern Thai beach vacation. (Tourism Authority of Thailand)
📍 5 Must-Visit Places
1. Koh Kradan 🏝️💙
A small island known for its white sandy beaches, clear waters, and coral reefs. Perfect for swimming, snorkeling, or a quiet island getaway. Accessible from Pak Meng Pier or Kuan Tung Ku Pier. (Tourism Authority of Thailand)
2. Koh Mook – Emerald Cave 🌊🪨
One of the most striking features of Trang's sea. The cave is located on the west side of Koh Mook. You have to float through a cave opening to reach a small beach surrounded by cliffs. For safety, it's recommended to enter with a guide or experienced tour operator. (Tourism Authority of Thailand)
3. Pak Meng Beach 🏖️🌅
A beach on the mainland perfect for relaxing. Enjoy the sea and sunset. The northern part of the beach has Pak Meng Pier, a major departure point for trips to Koh Mook, Koh Kradan, Koh Cheuak, and Koh Ngai (Tourism Authority of Thailand).
4. Koh Libong 🌿🐋
The largest island in the Trang Sea. The island is surrounded by seagrass beds, an important food source for dugongs. Ideal for nature lovers and those who want to experience an island community atmosphere rather than a rushed beach trip (Tourism Authority of Thailand).
5. Tham Le Khao Kob 🛶🪨
A famous cave in Huai Yot District. You have to take a boat to explore the cave chambers, stalactites, and stalagmites. The highlight is the cave ceiling which is so low that passengers have to lie flat on the boat to pass through, known as "Passing Through the Dragon's Belly" (Tourism Authority of Thailand).
🗓️ Concise Itinerary
DAY 1: Tham Le Khao Kob → Trang City → Pak Meng Beach in the evening
DAY 2: Beach Trip: Koh Mook – Tham Morakot → Koh Kradan
DAY 3: Choose to stay overnight on Koh Libong Or, take a relaxing day exploring the local community and food in Trang city.
💡 If you only have 2 days and 1 night, we recommend spending the first day exploring the mainland and Pak Meng, and then taking a full-day sea trip on the second day. This will save you time traveling to and from the islands multiple times.
⚠️ Update for August 2026: The tourist areas of Koh Muk and Koh Kradan in Hat Chao Mai National Park are closed seasonally from June 1st to September 30th for natural restoration. A yearly closure announcement for 2026 has been published by the Trang Provincial authorities. Therefore, during this period, focus on mainland sightseeing and check national park announcements before planning island hopping (Tourism Authority of Thailand).
Generally, the TAT recommends December to May for visiting Trang. The Andaman coast's tourist season starts to pick up around November (Tourism Authority of Thailand).
Trang's charm lies in its tranquility — explore caves in the morning, stroll along the beach in the afternoon, and then head out to sea to small islands the next day 🌿🌊🏝️. Perfect for those who want to experience the southern sea in a less crowded atmosphere.
