🔥 EP.4 | The Door to Hell: Turkmenistan 🇹🇲
Can you believe that… in the heart of a vast desert, there is a giant fiery pit that has been burning continuously for decades! 😱
This is the Darvaza Gas Crater, famously known as the “Door to Hell,” located in the heart of Turkmenistan’s Karakum Desert.
The crater is approximately 70 meters wide and 20 meters deep. It is filled with flames fueled by natural gas from beneath the earth, making it look like a massive portal of fire opening in the middle of the desert at night.
🔥 A famous legend states that in 1971, Soviet geologists were drilling for gas when the ground collapsed. They set the leaking gas on fire, expecting it to burn out within a few days. However, historical accounts regarding its actual origin remain inconsistent.
What's truly incredible is that the flames have been burning continuously for over 50 years, though recent reports suggest the fire has significantly weakened due to efforts to curb gas emissions.
✨ What began as an ordinary gas crater has transformed into one of the world's most bizarre and mysterious locations, earning the chilling nickname “The Door to Hell.”
💬 If you had the chance, would you be brave enough to stand and watch this fiery pit at night?
