Linyi · Guan Mountain | A hidden gem that feels like a fairyland—the perfect spot for chicken and autumn views! — traveler post in Linshu

Linyi · Guan Mountain | A hidden gem that feels like a fairyland—the perfect spot for chicken and autumn views!

It’s not Jiangnan, but it rivals it! I never expected to find such a magical place hidden in Linshu, Linyi—Guan Mountain Scenic Area. This off-the-beaten-path trip was a total jackpot. It’s uncrowded, stunning, and the experience was absolutely perfect! 🌄 About the scenery Calling this the "Little Jiangnan of Southern Shandong" is no exaggeration. Even though the main peak is only 299 meters, it’s packed with unique rock formations, springs, streams, and ancient trees, giving it a delicate, ethereal beauty. The highlight was the thousand-year-old ginkgo tree—the 2,000-year-old "Child in Arms" spectacle is breathtaking. The golden leaves against the red walls of the Taoist temple make for stunning traditional-style photos. There’s also the Immortal Cave, where legends say Zhang Liang and Xu Shu practiced, and the nearly 50-meter-long "Tao Te Ching" cliff carving, which is steeped in history. 🍜 About the food After the hike, you have to treat yourself to an authentic Guan Mountain rooster! It’s a local signature dish. They use roosters raised on the mountain for at least 11 months, prepared fresh and stir-fried over high heat with local chili peppers. The sauce is rich, the meat is firm and chewy, and it gets more flavorful with every bite. We added potatoes and pot-stickers—the pancakes soaked up all that rich chicken broth, and it was absolutely incredible! My friend said the flavor is bold and hearty, perfectly reflecting the spirit of the Yimeng people. ✨ A few tips 🎫 I recommend booking your tickets online in advance—it’s much cheaper than buying on-site, and you can even get free admission on Wednesdays. 📸 For stunning traditional-style photos, I recommend going after 4 PM. The ginkgo forest and bamboo boardwalk in the sunset backlight are incredibly atmospheric! 🥾 The mountain paths can be mossy, so remember to wear non-slip shoes. There are few supply points on the mountain, so it’s best to bring your own water. This trip to Guan Mountain was both a breath of fresh air and a treat for the taste buds. Niche destinations really are the true "poetry and distance"! 👏

Linshu Hongshihu Park Travel Photography | A City of Red Rocks Reflecting a Clear Lake, Hidden in the Gentle Mountain and Sea Scenery of a Small Town Deep within the heart of Linshu, Linyi, lies a hidden gem—Hongshihu Park, a secluded and healing paradise. Free from crowds and deliberate commercialization, it boasts only its unique Danxia red hue and crystal-clear lake, blending the gentleness and poetry of the small town into the air. It's a local favorite for relaxation and a must-visit photo spot for tourists. Unlike the monotony of typical city parks, Hongshihu's most captivating feature is its Cretaceous purplish-red sandstone, formed over millions of years. Layers of crimson rocks, with their delicate and unique textures, stretch along the lakeshore. Red dikes, red bridges, and red stones complement each other beautifully. The vibrant red contrasts sharply with the clear lake water, creating a sophisticated atmospheric filter. Every snapshot is a masterpiece of atmospheric beauty—a unique geological romance in southeastern Shandong. The 450-acre park boasts picturesque scenery at every turn, with a 2,000-meter-long lakeside green path running through it. A morning stroll here offers tranquility; a gentle breeze ripples across the lake, and lush greenery provides a peaceful respite from the city's hustle and bustle. Linyi Zoo & Biological Garden

The zoo is fairly large, and entry is quick. There's a good variety of animals. However, it seems cleaning is too difficult, as some areas had a strong odor; even the little cat in picture 3 looked filthy. The Capitoline's area was quite small, and it seemed rather listless. There were camels and other animals below the overpass, and a fair number of mosquitoes. The convenience store inside was a bit pricey, so I recommend bringing your own snacks. Hehe.

Langya Ancient City

The hotel staff were all very friendly and the environment was fantastic. We could easily visit the old town countless times a day, making it especially suitable for families with children and elderly members. The value for money was excellent, especially the receptionists – a huge thumbs up! 👍 The shows in the old town were wonderful, especially the water show – don't miss it! I personally think it's even better than the National Show!

Qiyang Earth Ocean Kingdom

Very good! It is a good place for family travel in the suburbs of Linyi. It is located in Lianghe New District near the west bank of Shuhe River. There are many kinds of marine animals in it. Children like it very much. The transportation is very convenient and there is a large parking lot. Recommended!

Wang Xizhi's Former Residence

The former residence of Wang Xizhi, the Sage of Calligraphy, is located in the urban area of Linyi City. The park has a particularly beautiful and comfortable environment, especially the bamboo shoots after the rain. The tender bamboo shoots are sprouting from the ground, and I have never seen such tender bamboo shoots before. They are everywhere.

"National Show: Langya" Indoor Performance

You have no idea how amazing the show is. It's absolutely incredible, always full of surprises, and every performance is meticulously crafted. You just can't get enough of it. It feels like the money was well spent. It's truly amazing!

Mount Taishan

Super easy to climb! It's great for both experienced hikers and those with less stamina. My parents took the cable car and bus, while I took the bus and climbed. Everyone was happy! The only downside is that going too early can result in fog. If it's not a holiday, don't go too early; consider going after 9:00 AM. Once you're on the mountain, the fog will start to dissipate after 12:00 PM.

Yinqueshan Han Tombs Bamboo Slips Museum

The excavation of the Haihunhou Tomb is a major achievement in the history of Chinese archaeology. Its excellent preservation, grand scale, and richness of unearthed artifacts are rare among Han Dynasty marquis-level tombs. The numerous exquisite bronzes, gold artifacts, and jade objects, especially the tens of thousands of bamboo slips and the earliest known Confucian mirror screen, not only confirm the special status of the tomb's occupant, Liu He, and the extravagant burial practices of the Western Han Dynasty, but also provide extremely valuable material for understanding the politics, economy, culture, and social life of the Han Dynasty. It possesses immense historical and artistic value, truly deserving the title of an "underground Han Dynasty museum."

Guanshan Scenic Area

Although the mountain is not high, the scenery is good. It is very close to the county town. Sanqing Pavilion and Ginkgo Tree still have history. It is very suitable for leisure and play with the elderly and children. The sign introduction of the scenic spot needs to be improved. [Scenery]

Slender West Lake

A trip to Yangzhou's Slender West Lake is a must! 🍃 Stepping into the garden is like entering a flowing ink painting. The lake water is clear and winding, willows sway gently, the iconic Five Pavilion Bridge floats on the emerald waves, and the White Pagoda stands quietly. Every scenic spot reveals the ingenuity of the ancients. You can stroll slowly along the long causeway or take a boat trip on the lake. The breeze blowing across the lake carries the fragrance of grass and trees. The park is large, and a leisurely stroll is very therapeutic. There are places to rest, as well as a children's playground. It's suitable for taking photos or simply enjoying the scenery. The gentle elegance of Jiangnan is fully experienced here. ✨ A small suggestion: After entering the park, take a boat trip first, then visit the main attractions. It's best to enter and exit in one go to avoid backtracking. Otherwise, the large park will take a long time to explore.
