GGuest User: I was so lucky to choose this hotel on my first trip to Milan! It deserves full marks! Extremely convenient for Chinese tourists, everything was fantastic 👍 The receptionist was incredibly friendly and welcoming, and we could communicate directly in Chinese! Not only was there no communication barrier, but she also assisted with communication in English and Italian. The hotel is right next to the No. 31 tram, which runs almost 24 hours a day and provides easy access to and from the city center – perfect for independent travelers. The room was very clean and tastefully furnished. The bedding was just the right firmness, the shower water temperature and pressure were perfect, and the surrounding area was very quiet at night – I wasn't disturbed at all. Breakfast offered both Chinese and Western options, and you could schedule a delivery to your door. It completely exceeded my expectations, I'll definitely come back next time! 😘

WWahsen: We stayed 4 nights with 5 people in this apartment and the experience was very positive. He always answered our requests quickly and assured himself that everything was going well. The apartment is spacious, clean, comfortable and very good quality. It is perfectly equipped, especially for cooking, with all the necessary available. We have been comfortable there as we arrived. The only point to note is the location, which is quite far from the city centre. The trains are not very close to the train, but the station is not suitable for people with reduced mobility, the distance between the quay and the train is important (more than 50 cm) and no rampe is available. When we traveled with my father on a wheelchair, we had several difficulties during our trips. Despite this, we have spent a great stay and we recommend this accommodation for the quality of the accommodation and the professionalism of the host.

IIURIIP: Conveniently located just steps from the train station. Exceptionally clean everywhere! There's a shared kitchen for cooking or heating up. As for the downsides, as others have already mentioned, it's unclear why it's impossible to send entry codes in advance on the day of arrival if a foreign guest requests one, as not everyone has roaming or Wi-Fi access upon check-in. Email and text requests were ignored. You must call the doorbell—standing at the door.

Imagine a small bay surrounded by lush green slopes, clear water, and an ancient abbey standing almost on the shore. There are no roads, noisy streets, or the usual hustle and bustle of the city. San Fruttuoso can be reached by sea or on foot through the Portofino Natural Park—and it is precisely this seclusion that makes this place so special. But behind the beautiful landscape lies a history that dates back over a thousand years. ⛪ Abbazia di San Fruttuoso—an abbey with a complicated fate According to legend, the history of this place is linked to Saint Fructuoso, Bishop of Tarragona, who died a martyr's death in the 3rd century. Legend has it that his remains were transferred here, to the Ligurian coast, after a vision of the saint in a dream. The monastic complex was founded in the early Middle Ages and was rebuilt several times in the following centuries. The abbey became an important religious center, and its seaside location linked monastic life to maritime trade routes. In the 13th century, the complex became associated with the Doria family, one of the most influential dynasties of the Republic of Genoa. Members of the family also used the abbey as a family burial site. Inside, the tombs of family members remain, and the architecture itself combines Romanesque elements, Gothic details, and traces of later reconstructions. What's particularly interesting is that this is not a huge monastery on a mountaintop, as one might expect, but a compact complex literally built into the bay. Its lower parts are adjacent to the water, while the upper buildings rise above a small beach. 🏰 Torre Doria – a tower against pirates A stone tower, built in 1562 by the heirs of Andrea Doria, rises above the bay. In the 16th century, the Ligurian coast was regularly attacked by pirates, so the tower served as a defensive fortification and helped control the approaches to the bay. It serves as a reminder that even such a secluded spot was never completely cut off from the outside world: the sea brought pilgrims and traders here, but could also become a gateway for dangerous visitors. 🌊 Cristo degli Abissi — Christ of the Abyss One of San Fruttuoso's most famous landmarks is not on land, but underwater. In 1954, a bronze statue of Christ with outstretched arms was installed on the seabed off the coast. It was created by sculptor Guido Galletti at the initiative of Italian diver Dario Gonzatti, who died during a dive. The statue is located at a depth of approximately 17 meters and is dedicated to all those connected with the sea, including sailors and divers who perished. Christ seems to raise his arms toward the light penetrating the water. Today, the Cristo degli Abissi has become a symbol of Liguria's underwater heritage. The statue is located in the Portofino Marine Protected Area and can be seen underwater during a suitable dive. The abbey itself, of course, is also accessible to non-divers. 🏖️ A small bay between the mountains and the sea San Fruttuoso doesn't have a large resort promenade: there are just a few buildings, an abbey, a tower, and a small pebble beach. This is why the place feels completely different from the popular Riviera towns. You can explore the monastery, sit by the water, take a swim, or simply watch the boats enter the bay. The landscape constantly changes depending on the light: in the morning, the water appears turquoise, while in the shade of the high slopes, it takes on a deep blue-green hue. Hiking trails of the Portofino Natural Park encircle the bay. However, these aren't just walking paths along the sea: the routes can be steep, rocky, and require good footwear. ⚓ How to get here San Fruttuoso has no car access. The easiest way to get here is by boat from Camogli, Portofino, or other coastal points, if there are seasonal boats on the right day. The second option is to walk along the trails through the natural park. I arrived here by boat from Camogli, then continued by boat to Portofino. This allowed me to see the bay and the abbey first from the water and then from the shore—and to appreciate how uniquely the complex fits into the surrounding landscape. ✨ Why San Fruttuoso is worth seeing This is a rare place where history and nature are inseparable: medieval walls stand next to the sea, a defensive tower commemorates pirate raids, and an underwater monument commemorating the people of the sea lies underwater. San Fruttuoso is more than just a stopover between Camogli and Portofino. It's a destination in its own right, well worth a trip along the Ligurian Riviera.

I hopped on a quick 15-minute regional train from Milan’s Porta Garibaldi station, leaving behind the bustling commuter rush and stepping out into the serene, cobblestoned heart of Monza. Most travelers know this city purely for the high-octane engine roars of the Formula 1 Italian Grand Prix, but treating it merely as a racetrack stop misses its true soul. Monza is remarkably underrated because it sits right under the shadow of fashion-obsessed Milan, yet it preserves a relaxed, regal Italian atmosphere completely untamed by heavy tourist crowds. Wandering through its pedestrian-friendly historic center, I was immediately struck by the striking two-tone marble facade of the Duomo di Monza, rising gracefully above quiet cafes and medieval side streets. My favorite hidden gem—and a discovery that genuinely took my breath away—was stepping inside the Chapel of Theodelinda within the Duomo to view the legendary Iron Crown of Lombardy. Worn by European monarchs from Charlemagne to Napoleon, this ancient circlet holds a beaten iron band rumored to be forged from a nail of the True Cross. Beyond its sacred history, just a short stroll away lies Parco di Monza, one of Europe's largest walled parks—spanning nearly twice the size of New York's Central Park. I spent a peaceful afternoon wandering past the magnificent 18th-century neoclassical Villa Reale, through lush rose gardens, and along the tree-lined banks of the Lambro River, taking in a tranquil side of Lombardy that most visitors never get to see. What makes Monza exceptionally special is how effortlessly accessible and rewarding it is for a slow travel day trip. Getting here couldn't be easier with frequent trains running directly from major Milan stations for just a few euros. For an incredible local experience, skip the tourist traps and head down Via Bergamo in the late afternoon—a charming street packed with wine bars and cozy bistros where locals gather for a glass of Nebbiolo and traditional aperitivo. Monza offers royal history, sprawling natural beauty, and authentic culinary moments without the long lines or marked-up prices of big-name destinations. It is a city that quietly holds some of Italy's greatest treasures, just waiting for those willing to look past the racetrack. #UnderratedMonza #DiscoverLombardy #MonzaHiddenGems #IronCrown #VillaReale #ExploreItaly #OffTheBeatenPathItalyy #VisitMonza #DayTripFromMilan #TravelStorytelling #underratedspots

Founded in the late 6th century, the Duomo di Monza is one of Monza's most significant historic landmarks. The current structure primarily dates back to the 14th century and later, featuring a striking facade adorned with alternating black and white marble and a prominent central rose window. The cathedral is deeply intertwined with the history of the Kingdom of the Lombards. Its most treasured artifact is the renowned Iron Crown (Corona Ferrea), which is traditionally believed to contain a Holy Nail from the crucifixion of Jesus and was historically used in the coronation of European monarchs. The Chapel of Theodelinda (Cappella di Teodolinda) within the cathedral is particularly magnificent, housing large-scale 15th-century frescoes by the Zavattari workshop that depict the life of the Lombard Queen Theodelinda. With the extensive collections in the cathedral and its adjacent museum, it serves as a vital destination for exploring Monza's history, religious art, and the royal heritage of Europe.

Monza is a historic city situated in the Lombardy region of Italy, roughly 15 kilometers from Milan, with a population of around 123,000. The Duomo di Monza, originally founded in the 6th century, boasts its current structure largely from the 13th and 14th centuries. It is renowned for its striking white and green marble facade, magnificent Gothic architecture, and exquisite interiors. The cathedral is home to the treasured "Iron Crown," one of the most famous medieval crowns in Europe, historically used in the coronations of the Kings of Lombardy and the Holy Roman Emperors. In the city center, the Monument to Vittorio Emanuele II proudly stands in Piazza Roma. Furthermore, Monza is internationally celebrated for its racing circuit. Built in 1922, the Autodromo Nazionale di Monza hosts the Formula 1 Italian Grand Prix and is affectionately hailed as the "Temple of Speed."

#summervacay I almost missed seeing the Royal Villa in Monza, but what an incredible day trip it turned out to be! Monza, the third-largest municipality in Italy's Lombardy region after Milan and Brescia, is perfectly suited for a day trip from Milan. My Recommended Route: Monza in a Day! My itinerary started at the Duomo di Monza, moved to the Cappella Reale Espiatoria, and finished at the Villa Reale di Monza. Getting there from Milan was easy; I took a local train and could even use my public transport pass. From Monza train station, it was just a 10-minute walk to the Cathedral, where I found plenty of restaurants if I needed a quick break. From the Cathedral, it was another 10 minutes to the Monument, and then only 5 minutes more to the Royal Villa. Behind the villa, the park is perfect for sunbathing, and there's even a small farm to explore. Monza Cathedral (Duomo di Monza) The Duomo di Monza is a stunning Gothic cathedral. Its facade alone is incredibly intricate and beautiful to behold. Though the main church was completed in 603 AD, it underwent continuous renovations and additions, finally reaching its current form in 1681. Expiatory Chapel (Cappella Reale Espiatoria) The Expiatory Chapel was commissioned by Vittorio Emanuele III, son and heir of King Umberto I. Architect Giuseppe Sacconi designed it to commemorate the very spot where his father was assassinated by anarchist Gaetano Bresci on July 29, 1900. It's a powerful and somber monument with a rich history. #Monza #Italy #MilanDayTrip #Lombardy #DuomoDiMonza #VillaRealeDiMonza

thiha29The Pinacoteca di Brera is one of Milan's most important painting museums, renowned for its rich collection of art from the Renaissance to the Baroque periods. More than just a museum, the Pinacoteca di Brera itself is a historical monument, incorporating elements of an art academy, botanical garden, and observatory, forming a unique cultural and artistic complex.
冰语馨洁A Milan landmark, the castle was originally built in 1360 and rebuilt by the Sforza family in 1450. It is a typical Milanese Renaissance-style military castle. The red brick main structure, coupled with soaring towers, thick walls, and symmetrical arches, exudes grandeur and a vintage charm. The core courtyard and park are completely free, while the museums charge admission but the tickets are very low, and there are multiple free admissions. The castle houses more than ten themed museums, somewhat scattered, but their collections are so valuable they can be considered miniature art palaces. You can encounter top-tier masterpieces without having to travel to major art museums. The most dazzling of these is Michelangelo's last sculpture, the Pietà of Rondanini, a masterpiece from his later years, possessing immense artistic value.
