GGuest User: This hotel was convenient to Alicante airport. There was a good selection of shops and restaurants nearby. The breakfast was good, with a nice selection of fresh fruit and cold meats and cheeses. The cooked breakfast wasn’t hot but adequate. Staff on reception and restaurants were friendly and helpful. The bedroom was comfortable and spacious with everything you need.

GGuest User: La estancia fue correcta sin más . Quizás esperábamos un poco más por las valoraciones más antiguas. No se si habrán cambiado de dueños…Pero la denominación de boutique le queda un poco grande.

UU*B: Location is great.just a short walk to the beach. Snout 20 minute walk to the port where you can get a ferry to tabarca island. Breakfast was great but they wouldn’t even let me take an apple with me which i found a bit bizarre. They would rather throw-it in the bin than let me take it. Rooms and bathroom was very spacious .very polite staff

Want to eat like a local? Don't miss out on these top Saarland dishes and foodie spots.

It's the lively capital city of Saarland, Germany's smallest non-city state. Located on the Saar River right along the French border, it is a major university hub and cultural crossroads that blends historic German architecture with a distinct French culinary flair and lifestyle (savoir-vivre). The Baroque Heart Stengel’s Masterpieces: Much of the historic center was designed in the 18th century by the court architect Friedrich Joachim Stengel, creating a unified, elegant Baroque aesthetic. Saarbrücken Castle: Perched on a hill overlooking the river, this historic palace features a unique modern steel-and-glass center pavilion. Beneath it lie underground casemates—centuries-old tunnels and fortifications that visitors can explore. Ludwigskirche: Considered one of the most important and architecturally complete Protestant Baroque churches in Europe, standing as the crowning achievement of Stengel's work. St. Johanner Markt: The vibrant pedestrian heart of the city, lined with boutiques, outdoor cafes, and pubs surrounding an ornate Baroque fountain. #citycenter #travel #church #castle

Merzig and Merzig-Wadern hit different when you know where to wander! 🦁🍰 Ready for a chill trip blending cute cafés, green parks, and animal moments? Here’s my low-key guide for anyone who never gets enough of hidden Saarland gems. Top Spots to Visit: 1. Cafe Jobst (Poststr. 16, Merzig) – Start your morning here! Their pastries can't be missed, and the vibe is friendly but not too busy. Perfect for fueling up before adventures. 2. Merziger Tierpark (Blättelbornweg, Merzig) – Open daily and free entry! This animal park’s great for all ages. I found weekday mornings are quieter if you actually want to watch the animals play. 3. Weingarten (Gustav-Regler-Platz, Merzig) – This outdoor wine garden has local wines to sample and a relaxing view. Weekends get lively but weeknights are sweet for chilling and people-watching. 4. Spielplatz im Stadtpark (Alter Leinpfad 998, Merzig) – If you’ve got kids (or want a throwback afternoon), this playground is where locals go. It’s clean, shaded, and just steps from the park’s main paths. 5. Merzig Park (Zur Stadthalle, Merzig) – End the day walking under big trees or stretch out by the pond. Locals say sunset here is elite 🌅. Getting Around: The city center is super walkable! I skipped taxis and just used local buses when tired (buses run regularly—check station near Gustav-Regler-Platz). Food & Drink: Start with cake at Cafe Jobst, and later, try whatever wine is recommended at Weingarten—they know their stuff. Extra Tips: Merziger Tierpark is cash-only for snacks. Wetter can flip fast in Merzig; pack an umbrella even if the news says “sunny”. #hellonewyear #MerzigMagic #SaarlandSpots #CafeCrawl #TravelTips #HiddenGermany

Wolfspark Werner Freund – Waldstraße 204, 66663 Merzig The Wolf Park is *the* highlight — entry’s free (score!) and it’s open daily 09:00–17:00. Wander through the woods, watch real wolf packs up close, and learn about Werner Freund’s legacy. Insider tip: Wear comfy shoes, and go early to catch the wolves more active. 3. Weingarten Merzig – Gustav-Regler-Platz, 66663 Merzig When you’ve had your fill of furry friends, unwind at Weingarten for classic Saarland cuisine and local wines. Most places are walkable if you’re staying centrally. Taxis are available too, and parking’s easy near Tierpark and Wolfspark. Food Recommendations: Besides Weingarten, hit any cute bakery in town for fresh pretzels or try local wines at smaller bars in the evening. Destination Tips: No visa needed for EU citizens; cash and card are both accepted, but carry some euro coins for smaller purchases. Weather is mild, but a light jacket’s handy for the woods.
