This day trip from Lisbon focuses on exploring the natural scenery and historical sites of southern Portugal, including Palmyra Castle, Arabida Natural Park, and Sesimbra, which is full of fishing village vibes. Each attraction is full of Portuguese characteristics, both to feel the sunshine of the Mediterranean and to taste authentic fresh seafood, making it the best choice to leave the big city and experience authentic life and natural beauty. Trip route recommendations First stop: Palmyra Castle Address: Palmyra, Portugal It is recommended to visit Palmyra Castle early in the morning, which overlooks the entire river valley and surrounding villages. There are paths in the castle to walk slowly, it is recommended to reserve 1 to 1.5 hours for a visit. Stop 2: Arabida Nature Park Address: Portugal (Open all day year round) A UNESCO-certified biosphere reserve, Arabida Nature Park follows a mountain road, flanked by magnificent rocks and azure Atlantic views. You can drive or charter a car into the mountains, with a number of sightseeing trails to choose from. If you have enough time, you can visit the beach of Portinho da Arrábida. The park is large, so pay attention to planning the route in advance for easy play. Stop 3: Sethuballi Flamento Market Setubal is a famous Portuguese fishing port. You can choose to sit at restaurants near the market and experience the authentic humanity. Stop 4: Sesimbula Fishing Village At the end of the trip we came to Sesimbra, a small fishing village with a pure atmosphere. The beach is clean, charmingly scenic and more characteristic at sunset. There are many local craft shops in the village lanes, suitable for slow walking. In the evening you can have dinner at a seaside restaurant, the seafood quality and price are very reasonable. Play tips 1. The best time to get out is spring and summer, with plenty of sunshine and particularly beautiful views. 2. Self-driving is recommended, you can arrange your trip completely according to your time;however, the transportation is more complicated, remember to plan your parking space and route in advance. 3. Markets and attractions will be more crowded on holidays, it is recommended to choose a weekday departure. 4. The seaside is windy, remember to bring a jacket, sunscreen and hat. 5. Some areas of the venue are steeper and it will be safer to wear comfortable shoes. Precautions Some sections of the nature park are narrower, so be especially careful when driving or hiking. Setubal Market hours are subject to actual stores, so be sure to inquire or reserve your restaurant in advance. There are many alleys in the village, so watch your personal items when moving.
