Shenzhen Food Guide

Shenzhen's culinary landscape is dominated by Cantonese cuisine, blending tradition with innovation, from the smooth Teochew-style rice noodle rolls, delicate double-skin milk, and exquisite shrimp dumplings, to the golden-red roast goose and the crispy and juicy Guangming pigeon. Each dish is a refined presentation of taste, deeply loved by diners.

Shenzhen Transportation

Shenzhen's transportation network is extensive and efficient, with Shenzhen Bao'an International Airport and the city's railway stations being key hubs for intercity travel. Shenzhen Bao'an International Airport (SZX) is a major aviation hub located 32 km northwest of the city center. It serves as a hub for several airlines and offers a wide range of domestic and international flights. To reach the city from the airport, passengers can use the metro service connected to the airport terminal via an Automated People Mover (APM) system, or opt for bus, taxi, and intercity bus services available at the Ground Transportation Center. Shenzhen Railway Station, also known as Luohu Railway Station, is situated in the Luohu District and serves as the southern terminus of the Guangshen Railway. It provides access to high-speed trains to Guangzhou and conventional trains to various destinations across China. The station is conveniently connected to the city via Subway Line 1 (Luo Bao Line), which offers a direct route to central district and other parts of Shenzhen.

Shenzhen Where to Stay

Shenzhen is a city renowned for its diverse accommodation options, with hotels spread across distinct districts, each offering its own unique traits. The city's accommodation landscape reflects the variety of its regions, catering to every traveler's preferences and needs.

Shenzhen Best Time to Visit

The best time to visit Shenzhen is from October to March, when the weather is pleasant with much less rainfall and the occurrence of a typhoon is very rare. This period includes the cool and dry autumn months, as well as the mild and sunny winter season, making outdoor activities and visits to theme parks enjoyable. Specifically, mid-October to late November offers comfortable temperatures and less rainfall, ideal for exploring the city's attractions.

Shenzhen Useful Guide

Shenzhen, a city where the past meets the future, is a linguistic tapestry woven with Mandarin and Cantonese. As a traveler, navigating this multi-lingual landscape, one can rely on translation apps or local interpretation services. The city's cosmopolitan nature is reflected in its residents' multilingual abilities, often a necessity in this global tech hub.

Zhen Ting Chaozhou Cuisine

A flagship Chaozhou restaurant under the "Zhi Ting Catering Group," established in 2020, it has been a "Black Pearl One Diamond" restaurant for many consecutive years and has also won prestigious awards such as "Best Restaurant Space Design Award" and "Golden Phoenix Guangdong Restaurant Guide Restaurant of the Year."

The Chinese restaurant 🍽 is helmed by Chef Xu Zhenkun 👨🏻🍳, a senior chef from Shantou Donghai Restaurant. Adhering to the principle of "strictly following the seasons and returning to simplicity," it uses the most authentic Chaozhou ingredients to inherit the thousand-year-old Chaozhou culture, ensuring every bite is pure and genuine. 💫

Recently, they launched a new menu! This evening, I was fortunate to try the chef's personally designed "secret menu" with friends. The presentation was exquisite and high-quality, featuring seasonal ingredients—each dish a masterpiece of craftsmanship ❤️. Thank you to the directors and PR team for their warm hospitality 🫶🏻. It was a delightful and surprising gathering! 🥳

Design Art | Eastern Philosophy and Aesthetics Designed by master designer Ju Bin, the space combines the concepts of "strength and softness," resulting in a restaurant design that is understated yet luxurious and tasteful. ✨ Adorned with Chaozhou wood carvings, embroidery, antique vases, and ink calligraphy, the space feels like an art gallery, bringing aesthetic elements into the dining experience. It's not just a treat for the taste buds, but also an art form of dining.

【Chaozhou Style Chronicles • Summer Roll】 Appetizers
🔸Stir-fried White Shrimp with Olive Vegetables
🔸Beef Tendon with Scallions
🔸Chaozhou Raw Marinated Rice Crab
🔸Nan'ao Pearl Melon with Seaweed
🔸Guava Crispy Grouper Maw

🔸Delicacy Soup | Wild Stonefish and Yellow Skin Soup
🔸Exquisite Dishes | Crispy Fried Shark Fin

Hot Dishes
🔸Stir-fried Goose Intestines and Pork Tripe Tips with Sauce
🔸Stir-fried Dried Flounder with Red Peppers
🔸Snow Crab and Potato Cake
🔸Apple and Loofah Stew with Small Geoduck
🔸Chaozhou Lobster Cake with Pork
🔸Spicy Broth with Sesame Leaves

🔸Japanese Cuisine | Chicken Oil Mushroom and Clam Rice Cake
🔸Leisure | Salted Taro and Goose Meat Cake
🔸Sweet Treat | Summer Lychee Jelly ×××[Ting Chaozhou Cuisine]××× ©L239, 1st & 2nd Floor, East Zone, Zhuoyue Center, Fuhua Road

📚 Shenzhen's most unusual bookstore, where the staircase leads to infinity! 😍

If you thought a bookstore couldn't become a tourist attraction, you haven't been to Zhongshuge Bookshop yet. It's one of the most photogenic spots in Shenzhen, famous for its giant circular book staircase, which looks like a portal to another world.

The store's main feature is its enormous spiral structure of bookshelves, symbolizing the infinity of knowledge and the passage of time. Mirrors create the impression that the staircase and books stretch into infinity. It's no wonder this place is listed among the most beautiful bookstores in China and has become a true mecca for photographers and architecture enthusiasts.

Besides the impressive interior, you can buy books and souvenirs, drink coffee in the cozy cafe, and simply enjoy the atmosphere of peace and inspiration.

📍 Address: Zhongshuge Bookshop, 1st floor, OH Bay Mall (Happy Harbor), Bao'an District, Shenzhen.

🕒 Opening hours: Daily 10:00–23:00.

🚇 How to get there: Linhai Station (Line 5), Exit B1 – a few minutes' walk.

✨ If you want to take photos without too many people, come right after opening.
