#NewYearGiftTrip to Wat Prachakom Wanaram, also known as Wat Pa Kung, built by Luang Pu Sri Mahaweero. The temple was established and received its royal charter in 1970.
The temple features a large pagoda made of natural sandstone, the first of its kind in Thailand. It was constructed to commemorate Luang Pu Sri Mahaweero's 90th birthday and 60th year in the monkhood, modeled after the Borobudur pagoda in Java, Indonesia. Construction began in 1992 and was completed on October 28, 2004, with a ceremony to install a 101-ton gold spire. Inside the pagoda are enshrined the Buddha's relics at its center, and the walls are carved with stories from the Buddha's life and the Vessantara Jataka. Including the biography of Luang Pu Sri and images of the revered master.
