Altai Mountains

The Altai Mountains (Russian: Алтай; English: Altai Mountains), are in the northwest and southeast direction, diagonally across the borders of China, Kazakhstan, Russia and Mongolia, stretching for more than 2,000 kilometers; the Altai Mountains in China are the southern slopes of the middle section, the mountain is more than 500 kilometers long, and the altitude is 1000-3000 meters. The main ridge height is more than 3,000 meters, and the highest peak in the north is the Friendship Peak, at an altitude of 4,374 meters. The average annual temperature is 0 degrees Celsius, of which the average temperature in the area below the alpine snow line in July is 15-17 degrees Celsius, the lowest temperature in winter is minus 62 degrees Celsius, and the average annual precipitation is between 500-700 millimeters.

The larger the volume of the mountain, the higher the altitude, the more obvious the effect of this interception, water vapor clustered in these alpine areas to condensate into a large number of glaciers, and these glacier meltwater is precisely the main source of those rivers in Xinjiang.
