We came here for a celebration and a good steak. The service was excellent and we enjoyed ourselves. Best steak we have had in Melbourne so far. Try and book a booth seat. More private and enjoyable. Fabulous food and cocktails!! Will definitely be back.

Well after organising our first trip to Melbourne, me and my partner decided on Dutchess for dinner. On arriving we were greeted and taken straight to our table. Service here was awesome, it was a little slow and it did take a while for our food to come out. But of course the food was delicious. We both had steak and it was cooked perfectly. Our dessert was delicious! It was the best dessert I have probably had at a restaurant. I can&#39;t remember exactly what it was called but i did have violet ice cream. My had the lemon meringue which was deconstructed, it tasted very yummy! I will definitely come back here when I return to Melbourne! I think it is a great place to go for some cocktails and dinner :) Thanks guys!!

The Dutchess makes an impression on entry. You enter via a lift and the bar is to the right, ready and waiting for your cocktail order (of which there are many to choose from!). Seating is Las Vegas style crescent lounges with plenty of space for your friends and your bags. The service here was spot on and we were well looked after by Derek, who was highly attentive and responsive, as well as making some outstanding menu recommendations such as the Chicken wings and lamb ribs to start, followed by mouth watering roast chicken and eye fillet steak (comes in small, medium and large) with red wine jus and amazing - almost life size (!) - Yorkshire puddings to the side. Dessert also impressed, the chocolate cake souffle/banana ice cream, a bit more like a fondant and the violet crumble in a glass completing a perfectly rounded experience. If I had to pick off half a point, it would be regarding the strange portion sizes vs value for money, but ultimately we had plenty of everything and we were not blown away by the bill. A unique touch is the DJ playing some truly classic beats (but not too loud) throughout. I&#39;ll be back.

My wife and I had an hour for dinner before a theatre show. We had been into the Duke (Cnr Flinders and Russell) before so we knew it was a good quick pub food option before the show. By mistake we went up two flights of stairs instead of one and we found ourselves in Dutchess. Much more a restaurant than downstairs which is casual pub/restaurant. We explained we only had an hour due to the pending show. The staff were fantastic, we were served quickly. The menu ranged from small typical bistro options to expensive steaks. We chose the beef burger due to time. It was delicious! We felt we were back traveling in New York. One of the best American style burgers you will ever have! The staff were very helpful and friendly. We will be back one day to enjoy a full meal experience with more time.
