Markthal is a U-shaped arcade market that has become a new landmark in the Netherlands. Hand-crafted by Dutch architecture studio MVRDV, the oversized paintings on the walls were completed by artists Arno Coenen and Iris Roskam, inspired by products on the market, including traditional Dutch food, flowers and insects. The interior of the palatial roof is covered with more than 4,000 tiles of different colors, like a modern version of the Sistine Chapel. Now there are a large number of vendors stationed here, with a dazzling array of goods, including seasonal vegetables and fruits, bread and desserts, flowers, and seafood, fully demonstrating a market art.
