The higher mountain pass on the Sichuan-Tibet line, Dongda Mountain, also known as the "Forbidden Zone of Life", has snow all year round. At an altitude of 5008 meters, one side of the mountain is the galloping Lancang River, and the other side of the mountain is Zuogong. In Dongda Mountain, the temperature of Bangda grassland can reach below zero degrees Celsius. However, the temperature on the banks of the Lancang River and Nujiang River is around 20°C. The altitude difference experienced in one day can be up to 2500 meters. Between the two counties, there are Jueba Mountain, Lawu Mountain and Dongda Mountain with an altitude of nearly 6,000 meters.
