Next to the entrance to the precincts of Zenchitori Shrine, which is related to the birthplace of Aomori, there was a magnificent stone monument made of black granite. The stone monument said, "A monument to commemorate the end of the Oshu Highway". Oshu Kaido Road, one of the five Kaido roads starting from Tokyo Nihonbashi. It is said that it continued to the Hakodate Magistrate's Office at the end of the Edo period, but in the early Edo period, this area where the Tsugaru domain's business trip agency was located was the end point.
The black stone pillar standing in the eyes of Zenchitori Shrine was engraved as "a monument to commemorate the end of the Oshu Kaido". Anyway, it would be better if there was a signboard to see what Oshu Kaido is and what kind of history it has.
A stone monument stood on the sidewalk in front of Zenchitori Shrine, although it was not conspicuous. The black stone made it difficult to read the letters themselves, but I could understand it well from the nearby explanation board. There was a "monument to commemorate the end of the Oshu Kaido" written as "1991" and "Aomori City Road Motoshi" written as "Taisho 11".
