Big camphor tree
It is a Shinto shrine near Asakura high school in Amagi. The precinct is big, but besides the main building there is nothing important. What is famous is a big camphor tree. It is said that this one a...
Suka Shrine was originally called "Daiyuzan Gion Zenji" and was the last temple of Jotenji (Hakata Tsujido) of the Tofukuji school of the Rinzai sect. The shrine that enshrines Gozu Tenno in the precincts has been holding a grand festival (Gion Festival) since ancient times, supported by the faith of Ichien Amaki due to the influence of Hakata. This is the predecessor of Suka Shrine. The main shrine is made of Sanmasha style hafu and is a cypress bark roof. Okusu (700 years old) on the premises is magnificent! There seems to be some benefit from commemorative photography here 〜...
15 minutes walk from Amaki station. Originally, it was the branch temple of Jotenji, the Tofukuji school of the Rinzai sect, "Daiyuzan Gion Zenji". There are Okusu of Anchoji Temple and Okusu of Married Kusu in the precincts.
A historic shrine in Amaki. I visited with the nearby Anchoji Temple. There are Anchoji Okusu and Meoto Kusu Okusu in the precincts.
The 700-year-old Okusu is a sight to see!
