Dragons at Caerphilly Castle
Where: Caerphilly, Wales UK
When: July 2017
Wales is know for its historic castles and strongholds and while most are in ruins there is something magical about stepping on to the land where these majestic towers once stood. Some castles have more of the structures still standing than others but each still manages to tell a story of old (even if you have to use a little imagination to picture it).
Caerphilly Castle still has a number of walls still standing, some showing the various levels and floors that stood 3-4 stories high. And there are still plenty of turrets and chambers you can climb around which is what we did one glorious afternoon in July 2017.
This particular trip was made even more special by some visiting Welsh dragons Dewi & Dwynwen. At the time of our visit the Dragons were only in Caerphilly for a holiday but it appears that they have made the castle their personal lair. We very much enjoyed the tale of their love story on our visit and are glad to see they are still around. This is a perfect mix Fantasy and History and I can not wait to visit again.

Absolutely amazing place. Quite amazing to see such a huge castle next to a town. It's beautiful to walk and makes great photo opportunities. Right next to Caerphilly bus station.
A brilliant mix of fantasy and history at Caerphilly Castle. From the leaning tower to the lower chambers to the Dragons lair the magical atmosphere is everywhere. It is easy to see why BBC chose to film the tv series Merlin here. As a huge lover of knights and Arthurian legend Caerphilly ticked all my boxes before i even arrived and once I did get to visit it did not disappoint. Highly recommend a visit if you are in Wales. It is also worth the journey even if Wales is not on your itinerary.
Swansea Grand Theatre Nearby is this Cafeli Castle, magnificent and spectacular, the lawn at the door is very unique, very suitable for taking pictures here, great feeling! Recommended ~~~
Caffery Castle is the largest medieval castle in Wales, surrounded by a very large and complex moat waters, covering an area of 30 acres. It has been appraised by British historians as the second largest castle in Britain. The structure of the castle is concentric, and there are inner castles in the outer castle. Strong defensive capability is rare in British castles and destroyed in the war. At the end of the 19th century, the third generation of British aristocrat Marquees of Bute funded the reconstruction of the medieval castle, which took nearly a century. (
Cafeglili Castle is also a very good historical building, this castle can see some huge facilities, the castle itself is also a very strange thing, here visitors can also enter and exit, the castle area is also very huge.
