Bann Kang Wat

BaanKangWat means "home by the temple" in Thai. KhunBig, the founder of BaanKangWat, took a fancy to this old community and still retains many traditional folk customs, so he built such a community. In this community, all the houses are traditional wooden houses, most of which are double-storey wooden houses. As a new literary and artistic place in Chiang Mai, many small and beautiful shops such as cafes, handicrafts, small libraries, art studios and so on are hidden here, waiting to meet you. Coffee Library Library: This is a sharing library. Many students from Chiang Mai University will bring their favorite books here to share with you. In addition to the taste of books, the air here is also filled with the aroma of coffee. The owner's hand-brewed coffee makes the time you immerse in the book gentle and quiet. In addition to books and coffee, the store also provides simple meals such as toast, and the price is about 50 baht, which is very close to the people. Handmade cloth bags and ceramics shop: OrnTheRose is a warm shop that sells small arts and crafts such as cloth and ceramics. The owner, Orn, is a very ingenious little beauty. Her shop is a bit hidden, on the corner, hidden among a few log cabins. Her small shop specializes in a variety of hand-sewn fabric bags and small ceramic items. She sometimes sews some clothes and hats by hand, all of which are orphans and not mass-produced. If you have time, you can also ask her to customize products for you like a local in Chiang Mai. She would also love you to learn handcraft sewing with her. Handmade Studio: The owners Nok and Ing are artistic youths from authentic training classes. They both graduated from the School of Fine Arts of Chiang Mai University. In this handmade workshop, DaiStudio, you can draw, embroider, and even splash paint with your hands. DaiStudio advocates that "all artistic beauty is created independently by yourself", therefore, the studio will provide you with all the props, and the two shop owners will also give you some basic guidance. You can DIY your own works as much as you like, and you can take them home as souvenirs when you are done. There are often gatherings of literary and artistic youths from the Academy of Fine Arts of Chiang Mai University in the store, and the atmosphere is excellent! In the middle of the BaanKangWat community, there is also an event venue. Sometimes there will be LIVESHOW performances by some bands. If you are lucky, you can meet a very good local original band.
