‘School of Rock’
‘School of Rock’ was the sixth YOG production that we’ve seen at the Albany and it was the best yet! All involved, from cast, crew, production team, and volunteers should be extremely proud. The venue itself is welcoming, comfortable, with friendly staff on hand.
What a lovely bunch of people run this theatre. So welcoming and friendly. We really weren’t sure what to expect when we first entered the building as it felt very odd. Obviously a lot of work still to do on the extension . Everyone we met though was just so incredibly personable and welcoming. Stairs or ramp access at the front. Ticket area is just inside. The bar sells cold drinks, crisps and sweets and there are toilets for all, accessible and clean. There’s not a huge amount of seating/tables, although the space is large enough to hold more, they haven’t tried to cram them in. Can imagine if busy you pretty much need to be able to stand for intervals. Front of house feels quite modern so it was a real shock when we went from this space through to the actual theatre which is really traditional and obviously of an age. Thought the email sent the day before detailing parking provision nearby was an excellent touch especially as we are not from the area. We had booked some tickets but then needed to add an extra xtra person, rang them in the morning and they said not to worry as they’d sort when we arrived so we could all sot together, and hi I they did. Looking at their future shows they obviously offer a great selection. Thank you all for such a lovely afternoon - horrible histories was amazing.

We use this theatre a lot as it does have some great shows. The one we went to see tonight was The Comedy Store which was brilliant. The theatre has some council funding and is constantly being renovated as the attached Premier Inn doesn’t really want to be part of it, so the latest upgrade is a new walkway into the main theatre. The place just keeps getting better.
Went to watch Queen band here on Friday night 19th. Great night, brilliant music good fun and a nice venue. Easy to find - multi parking (100 yards away) at a low cost too. Staff friendly and a nice venue. Never been here before but will defo go again
