The mosque was built next to Kowloon Park, near the junction of Nathan Road and Haiphong Road. It existed as early as 1901 and was renovated in 1902. The temple was formerly the British Army Weifi Road Barracks and had a large number of South Asian Muslim soldiers, so there was a mosque built in the barracks. By the late 1970s, the construction of the subway throughout Tsim Sha Tsui had caused a structural crisis in the mosque, so after receiving compensation from the MTR Corporation, it was easy to rebuild the site in 1980 with the responsibility of the Indian architect Lin Jialian for the entire reconstruction design project. The building was rebuilt in 1984 with donations from Muslims at home and abroad. There was an episode in the dome of the mosque. The mosque required white marble to be used as a material, but because of the high cost, Lin Jialian suggested that the glass paper be used instead.
The Kowloon Mosque is one of the ancient halal temples in Hong Kong, China. The overall building is a typical Islamic architectural style. All of the temples are built in plain white marble, the window gates of the arched threshold are quite exquisite, and the marble roof has a minaret at the four corners, which is very Islamic.
The mosque is next to the Tsim Sha Tsui MTR station and is one of the landmarks of the district.
