✨Kinkaku-ji is a temple of the Rinzai sect of Shokoku-ji in Kita-ku, Kyoto. The three-story building (reliquary hall) covered with gold foil inside and out is called Kinkaku, and the entire temple including the reliquary hall is called Kinkaku-ji. The prototype of the building that appeared in the anime 'Ikkyu the Wise' is here. ✨This place was once the villa of the third shogun of the Muromachi shogunate, Ashikaga Yoshimitsu, and was converted into a Zen temple after his death. In 1950, it was completely burned down by a fire and rebuilt in 1955. Kinkakuji/Golden Pavilion) is a Zen temple in northern Kyoto whose top two floors are completely covered in gold leaf. Kinkakuji is an impressive structure built overlooking a large pond, and is the only building left of Yoshimitsu's former retirement complex. It has burned down numerous times throughout its history including twice during the Onin War, a civil war that destroyed much of Kyoto; and once again more recently in 1950 when it was set on fire by a fanatic monk. The present structure was rebuilt in 1955. Getting there and around Kinkakuji can be accessed from Kyoto Station by direct Kyoto City Bus number 205 in about 40 minutes and for 230 yen. Alternatively, it can be faster and more reliable to take the Karasuma Subway Line to Kitaoji Station (15 minutes, 260 yen) and a taxi (10 minutes, about 1300 yen) or bus (10 minutes, 230 yen, bus numbers 204 or 205) from there to Kinkakuji. #kyototrip

Konkani-ji temple is one of the most popular zen temple in Kyoto, Japan that attracted many tourists due to its temple covered with gold leafs! Entrance fee is 400¥ and it is worth it once you entered the sacred place. The surroundings are magnificent even in all seasons. Best to visit during Spring or even during winter snow. The sights are different during different seasons. A must visit while in Kyoto. You will not regret it. There are too many angles for great pictures and at the same time enjoy the cosy surroundings. You will be at a praying temple upon checking out. A SL huge souvenir store is also available during check out. Be sure to get some souvenir such as good luck charms and fragrance joysticks. Kinkakuji or the golden pavilion is a temple covered in gold. It is a Zen temple located in northern Kyoto. It is built overlooking a large pond. The entrance fee to get here is 400 yen and are open from 9AM to 5PM. Apart from the temple, you will enjoy the beautiful garden. According to history, the building was originally a villa that was converted into a temple. The present building is not the original one. It was rebuilt after being burned down in 1950. Kinkakuji, a.k.a. Golden Pavilion, is a must-visit iconic landmark when you are in Kyoto. This Zen temple has two top floors that are covered in gold leaf. In autumn, the temple sparkles beautifully when the tree leaves in its surroundings turn to gold. I was #fallingforfall and experienced lovely autumn to remember. Kinkakuji can be accessed by train and bus. I went to this stunning temple with friends by taking Subway Line to Kitaoji Station, then continued by bus number 102 to Kinkakuji. As a tourist, It was not difficult for us to find the place as the public transport information was clear and available everywhere. The temple opens every day from 09:00 AM to 05:00 PM, costing around 400 yen entrance fee per person. #fallingforfall #kyoto #japan

Kinkaku-ji Temple is probably the most famous and visited place in the city of Kyoto. This place is not located in down town, however It can be reached easily by taxi or public transport. The recommended sightseeing time is between one to two hours. The place is very well maintained, clean and beautiful ornate buildings. Honestly, the golden pavilion it was what I was looking for seeing in person as it looks so fantastic in all the pics I saw about this place. Come early because its gets very crowded later in the day. Entrance fee is not expensive at all and it is good value for the money.
