    A calm place

    Easily accessible by bike (10’ min bike ride from La Flotte), you should definitely go at sunrise/sunset for the best experience. It’s free and it is rarely crowded.

    Atmospheric ruins that are free to visit

    With good access by bike path the abbey is reminder of the medieval past when the monks established the salt pans and reclaimed (polderised) the land.

    Unexpected...

    We saw this as we were driving and decided to stop. The ruins are in excellent shape and easy to walk around.

    Come by car, bike, or foot, but definitely come - it is one of the oldest religious buildings on Ile de Re
