Qingdaoda Theater

Qingdao Grand Theater is a landmark building of Qingdao's public cultural facilities, with a total area of 87,000 square meters, and its appearance looks like two white pianos. The mountains, sea and clouds of Qingdao constitute the theme of the design of the Grand Theater. Water is the source of life, the sea is the soul of the city, the convergence of streams, the ebb and flow of the tide, and the combination of heaven and earth have created the main body of the Grand Theater. The Grand Theater is divided into four parts: opera hall, concert hall and multi-function hall, reception training center and performing arts exchange center. The four main functional parts can be opened independently without interfering with each other. Through the natural connection of slat beams and silver roofs, a divided and combined, four-sided open layout is formed, which integrates with the surrounding squares, greenery and roads. The Opera Hall is one of the main core performance venues of Qingdao Grand Theater. It occupies the north side of the entire building complex with a "horseshoe-shaped" building plane. Large-scale magic performances, acrobatic performances, and large-scale variety shows and conferences. The concert hall is located on the south side of the building complex. It mainly plays large-scale symphony, folk music and chamber music. The stage (bandstand) is 23 meters wide and 12 meters deep. It can accommodate 120 four-pipe bands and 180 chorus to perform. The multi-function hall can accommodate 448 people, mainly for performing small songs and dances, operas, dramas, vocal music, small orchestral music, chamber music, etc. It also has functions such as conferences, celebrations and exhibitions. The buildings of the Actors' Reception Center form the eastern boundary of the entire complex. There are restaurants, conference halls, guest rooms, etc., to provide people with comprehensive and thoughtful supporting services. Designed with free-flowing space, it is now operated by Qingdao Haitian Hotel. The Art Exchange Center is a building on the west side, designed as a free-flowing space containing commercial and public functions. The center has art galleries, databases, and rooms for reading, audio-visual, music appreciation, recording, and studios. There are also large, medium and small rehearsal halls, which can provide performance rehearsal and music education for young people.
