The Hilton Castle is located in the northwest of Sunderland, dating back to the 11th century Norman period, and was converted into a stone castle in the 14th century, where the Hilton family lived. In the mid-18th century, the castle gradually fell after the death of the Hilton family's last baron. Only a few of the building's main body remains, but it is still rated as a UK-level protected building and is being restored with local government funding.
