Lambing Flat Chinese Tribute Garden

The development of the Chinese Memorial Park project is a recognition of the contributions made by the Chinese community who settled in Yangshi in the 1860s, and is also a recognition of the contributions the Chinese have always made to Australia. In 1992, RotaryClub in Yangshi City undertook the renovation project of Tang Ren Dike, built some infrastructure, and built a Chinese park next to Tang Ren Dike. Many regional businesses provide material and service assistance for the project. First, Rotary officially started the project plan in 1992 with the construction of a new entrance and car park. The gate at the traditional garden entrance is from Taronga Park in Sydney and was part of the original panda exhibition area of the zoo in 1988. The middle area is cleared of silt to create an artificial lake, and the Chinese garden takes shape. Then the Chinese Memorial Garden was initially built, and the rockery stone in the garden was obtained from a quarry near Boorowa by a Harden quarry worker. Most of the labor for the project is done by volunteers and YouthSchemes. The project has received a $75,000 federal grant and a $15,000 Cherry Festival grant, as well as funding from the Sydney Chinese community.
