Beckerpert (Berkelpoort) is a gate that is part of the city wall of Jutefen, on the eastern edge of the city center, across the small river Berkel. The gate was built in the 14th century to connect two settlements on both sides of Berkel. Originally there were two sluices, which formed a fortress around the city along with the city walls. Another was demolished in 1774. Beckerpert kept the door's destruction state by covering the top of the wall with a layer of cement in 1888. A new, more prosthetic restoration was then carried out in 1951. Now here is a national monument.
