Fangcheng

Fangcheng County (方城县) is located in Southwest Henan Province, neighboring Wancheng District of Nanyang City to the south and Pingdingshan City to the north. It is referred to as the north gate of Nanyang. Wanghua Lake can be found in Nanyang, named after Wanghua Pavilion, which was built here in the past. The area boasts an ancestral hall commemorating Zhang Shizhi, a high minister during the Western Han Dynasty, as well as the battlefield of Zhuge Liang’s Battle of Boweng Slope during the Three Kingdoms period, both of which are historical and cultural sites protected at the provincial level.
