Eight Beaches That Are Worthy of Going to In Zhuhai

Wailingding Island has been developed for a long time and has complete facilities. It is only six nautical miles from Cheung Chau, Hong Kong. On sunny days, it overlooks the skyline of Hong Kong. It is the only island in Guangdong that can see the urban area of Hong Kong. It attracts numerous tourists with cheap seafood, mountain climbing and sea viewing.

The island is small, but it is worth staying for a night. You can climb Lingding Peak, which is 311.8 meters high, early the next day to watch the sunrise at sea. The seafood in Wailingding Island is quite famous, and you can buy seafood and ask the shop to process them. It is important to note that processing fees on the island are not cheap.

You can only go to Wailingding Island by boat. A convenient way to buy a ticket is to ask a hotel on the island to make a reservation on your behalf.

Dongao Island is 30 kilometers from Zhuhai Xiangzhou, which is more natural and primitive than Wailingding Island. The forest cover is nearly 80 per cent. The shores are rife with rocks and typical island scenery.

Unlike other islands, there are many relics on Dongao Island. Literati inscriptions of successive reigns and dynasties can be seen on the main peak - Fudan Mountain. There is a blunderbuss city built in the Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty on the east side of the island. It is a military defense castle.

Dongao Island has three beaches with the best scenery in Nansha Bay, which can be reachedby boat from Hengqin Wharf in Zhuhai. It should be noted that the accommodation on the island is average and the seafood is more expensive. Compared with the outstanding scenery everywhere, it is recommended to compare prices when buying.

Qi'ao Island has a reputation as a "Green Island", with a forest coverage rate of 90%. Qi'ao Island is one of the greenest places in Zhuhai with more than 30 hectares of mangrove forest. It is said that nearly 60, 000 nests are built here, and more than 100,000 migratory birds come here to spend the winter each year.

With an average quality of beach and sea water, Qi'ao Island is only suitable for riding, taking photos and watching birds. In addition, there are a large number of ancient buildings on the island and 17 temples, such as Qing Dynasty Wenchang Palace, Song Dynasty Ancestor Temple and so on. Only some of these attractions require a ticket and the fare is between RMB 5 and 10.

Miaowan Island is the furthest island from the coastline in the islands near Zhuhai. It is so named because it has a sea temple on the island. Many tourists call it the "Maldives of China". It is the best place to fish and dive near Zhuhai with blue and clear seawater, and abundant underwater fish.

Miaowan Island is small in size and with average accommodation conditions with ordinary hostels and rental of tents. The meals consist of local farm vegetables with seafood. With complete daily necessities, there is no need to prepare food in advance except sunscreen products, slippers and diving supplies.

It should be noted that wearing sunscreen is recommended due to strong sunlight here.

Yeli Island is the nearest island to Zhuhai City, and is connected to the urban area with a 340-meter-long Haiyan bridge. You can walk around the island in about forty minutes or rent a bicycle to ride. The locals often have a picnic on the island on weekends and climb the mountains to watch the sunrise.

There are four small peaks on the island, that Yeli Mountain is the highest being less than 70meters. You can climb to the top easily. The island has also a shell-like opera house - the Zhuhai Opera House, which is said to be the only island opera house in the country.

Hebao Island, an island at the west end of the Wanshan Islands, is a 30-minute voyage from the Hebao Island Port, Zhuhai. There is the natural "Miles Silver Beach" and vast pristine forests, resorts, mountain adventures and bonfire parties on the island.

The beach on Hebao Island is the most famous with Grand South Bay, which is about 4 kilometers long and 200-500 meters deep. Hebao Island is a good place to stay overnight with soft sand, barbecue and camping. To Hebao Island, you can buy a package ticket, or take bus to the Hebao Island Port in Gaolan Port, and then take the boat of the local fishermen. The latter is cheaper than the former one.

Feisha Beach is a beach with good water quality in Zhuhai. It is about 600 meters long and 200 meters wide. There are many activities on the beach, such as beach volleyball, water motorcycles, rubber boats, sea parachutes, etc. It's good to enjoy the blue sky, play on the sand, and swim in summer.

Feisha Beach tickets include showers, swimming fees, etc. but beach umbrella rent and entertainment experiences are charged separately. There are barbecue stalls on the beach, usually RMB 60-100 per unit and tents for camping and team building.

The Golden Beach is the largest beach in Zhuhai with fine sand like gold powder. The beach is 3 kilometers long and 800 meters wide, with accommodation, complete dining, barbecues, yachts, beach horse running, beach motorcycles and so on.

The Golden Beach is next to Zhuhai Airport, and far from the urban area. You need a transferbus. If convenient, it is suggested to drive there yourself, but you should pay the parking fees at RMB 10/vehicle with a foreign license plate.
