Gorgeous natural scenery aside, we can't mention Langkawi without a word about its hotels. Staying here is an experience in its own--they hotels are really something else. So if you get the chance to visit Langkawi, experience its hotels for yourself, and we think you'll agree.

The Westin Langkawi Resort & Spa is a 5-star hotel on the edge of the town of Kuah. Transportation access is convenient and is just 20 minutes' drive to the airport. The nearby Langkawi Fair is Langkawi's largest shopping location. With free daily shuttles run by the hotel, shopping couldn't be easier.

All of the Westin's guest rooms are luxurious in style, and there are an additional 20 newly built high-class villas; balconies from the rooms look out over the ocean. The hotel has 4 restaurants offering cuisine from all around the world, and holds romantic poolside barbecues on Tuesdays and Fridays. What's more, children eat breakfast free of charge, and those under 9 years old also eat for free at the evening self-service buffet.

The Century Langkawi Beach Resort is a hotel set in gardens. The wood used for the hotel is all original black timber, making it extremely natural and eco-friendly. With the small villa-style accommodation tucked away in the lush forest, privacy is guaranteed.

Guest are often accompanied by the sound of bird calls, and from time to time you may even find a little monkey paying a visit to your balcony. That being said, note that although it is very much back-to-nature, there are often mosquitoes too, so you must remember to close the door behind you when you go out on the balcony.

The Four Seasons Resort Langkawi is situated on a peaceful beach at Tanjung Rhu. With the ocean in front and mountains behind, the setting is stunning. The interior surroundings are like a work of art, with luxurious and fully-equipped facilities and beautifully thought-out design.

The biggest highlight of the hotel is its large private beach. Access is forbidden to non-hotel guests, so privacy is guaranteed, and with such peace and so few people, it is practically a beach of your own. The beach itself is gorgeous, sand quality is good, and it is very clean. You can just sit on the sand and zone out, lie down in the sun, or take a stroll and admire the sunset. It's your vacation and yes, you can enjoy it any way you like!

Langkawi's Boutique Hotels: A Unique Experience

The most striking feature of Langkawi Lagoon Resort is its design: The whole building is done in the traditional old Malaysian character. The guest rooms have been designed to include a variety of mountain-view, sea-view, and garden rooms, so that no matter what environment you prefer, your desires can be met.

But the most striking feature of the hotel is found in the Malaysian-style stilt houses built over the Andaman Sea. Here, every suite has a king-size bed, spread with white sheets, while the other parts are mainly taken up with brown furniture, giving a pleasing impression of brightness.

The Bayview Hotel Langkawi is somewhat of a landmark building in Kuah. It is located right in the bustling heart of the town with the night market just next door, and there are also numerous duty-free candy stores in the vicinity. It's also only 10 minutes' ride from Dataran Lang (Eagle Square) and about 15 minutes' ride from the jetty, so shopping and dining are extremely convenient.

There is a rooftop pool on the eighth floor offering views of the whole of Kuah bay, and the floors are fully carpeted to give a gentle, soft underfoot feel and all-round cozy impression.

Datai Langkawi is on a mountainside at the northwest edge of Langkawi, and the ride to the hotel is a great chance to appreciate the area's mountain landscape. The hotel is rich in the style of Chinese gardens, with one wood cabin after another tucked away in the forest like hidden jewels, unassuming yet luxurious.

It's a big hotel, and it is a 10-minute trip from the lobby to the ocean, and the winding route leads provides a unique and stunning vista. We recommend you go on foot to experience the crisp freshness of the forest air. Of course, you are also welcome to choose the hotel's sightseeing shuttle, which will drop you off and pick you up for maximum convenience.

The hotel exudes a sense of primitive simplicity throughout, from the wood chandeliers and wooden screens in the rooms, right down to the wooden window blinds--even the fans are made from an exquisite wooden structure. All of which leaves one feeling distinctly close to nature, and with the addition of softly colored lighting, the result is a truly cozy environment.
