Sapporo Snow Festival | Sapporo
Celebration
The Sapporo Snow Festival is an annual snow festival held in Sapporo, Hokkaido, Japan, in early February. The main venue is Odori Park in Chuo Ward, Sapporo, primarily showcasing snow sculptures. The Sapporo Snow Festival currently has three venues, with the main one being the Odori Venue in Odori Park. Large snow sculptures created by the Self-Defense Forces and international groups are mostly displayed at the Odori Venue. Most venues are sponsored and named by local Hokkaido companies, but 6-chome, 9-chome, and 12-chome are public squares, mainly displaying smaller snow sculptures created by ordinary citizens. 11-chome is the International Square, showcasing snow sculptures created by overseas groups. The Susukino Venue is located in Sapporo Station-mae-dori 4-7, primarily displaying ice sculptures. Compared to the Odori and Susukino Venues, which mainly display snow and ice sculptures, the Community Dome Venue is a public-participation venue with a snow maze, snow slides, and other recreational facilities.
