Born in the magnificent city of Edinburgh, Jackie Kay is a multi-talented poet, novelist, dramatist, and short story writer. Her extraordinary debut novel, "Trumpet," earned her the prestigious Guardian Fiction Prize, while her memoir, "Red Dust Road," was honored with the Scottish Mortgage Investment Trust Book of the Year Award. Jackie has released several collections of poems and stories, garnering numerous accolades along the way. From 2016 to 2021, she held the esteemed position of Scotland's third modern Makar, serving as the nation's Poet Laureate. Currently residing in Manchester, Jackie also holds the esteemed position of Professor of Creative Writing at Newcastle University, and previously served as the Chancellor of Salford University from 2015 to 2022. Her contributions to literature have been recognized with an MBE in 2006 and a CBE in 2020.
Michael Pedersen, our esteemed Writer in Residence at the University of Edinburgh, is set to captivate audiences with his exceptional prose debut, "Boy Friends," which has received rave reviews and was named a Sunday Times Critics Choice. Additionally, his third collection of poetry, "The Cat Prince," published by Little Brown in 2023, is currently shortlisted for the prestigious Forward Prizes for Poetry. As a co-founder of the prize-winning literary production house Neu! Reekie!, Michael's impact on the literary world extends beyond his own writing.
