Excellent
GGuest UserI stayed here while visiting San Sebastian bars.
It was very close to the old town, and there was a supermarket diagonally in front of the hotel, so the location was very good.
The room was clean and the staff at the front desk were very nice and made me feel comfortable.
GGuest UserWe asked for a quiet room and got one facing a big shop's delivery bay so lots of scraping metal, loud noises early in the morning. One night there was a noisy pop-up bar in the same street. Guests coming in late at night are like a stampede. Even with earplugs it was very audible. You can hear everthing, no soundproofing at all. The so called luxury double room at a whopping 189€ per night not including breakfasts is smallish and worse for wear and tear especially the small bathroom. The water leaked from the toilet, the hook on which the hairdryer was hung up, broke off one night. It fell to the ground and woke us up. You have to pay at arrival and not traditionally when you check out...now we know why. On the plus side: friendly staff, rather clean and good location. But Donostia is small and very easy to walk around so most places are well located. Maybe it's because we're a bit older (fifties/sixties) that we are more sensitive to these things but it also means we've stayed at much better places at this price. In Bilbao we stayed in a very good, quiet 4 star hotel in the city centre at less than in La Perla so I would suggest you stay in Bilbao and take the bus to San Sebastian at 14€ for a 75 minute ride and save money for a much better and cheaper accommodation in Bilbao.
Very central , supermarket across the street. Few mins walk to bus station and beach. Very neat little room with all the necessities plus thoughtful extras to make the stay comfortable like coffee/tea ( in the foyer), microwave, cutlery, fridge. The ladies working there are very kind and helpful . There is traffic noise at night but OK with windows closed . If your next door neighbour snores you will hear it! So bring earplugs . Pay attention to the info in the booking messages because the staff are based nearby in another property so there may be few mins wait to open the door for you . All queries answered straight away via WhatsApp , excellent service .
Cristina Enea Rooms is located in a great neighbourhood and it’s right next to the Tabakalera cultural centre. When you come out of the bus station, look up. The Brutalist skyscraper is where you’re headed but don’t be put off by the exterior - inside it is bright and airy. Currently, due to station works, you must cross the tracks via a red pedestrian bridge. That basically takes you to one of the three possible entrances to the accommodation. Ricardo at reception was welcoming and super-helpful and seemed to be there most days from 10-6. The manual code worked a charm for building entry the first time as did the swipe card thereafter. As for the rooms, I liken this to a fancy hostel with rooms coming off a central kitchenette/lounge area. This is fine if your fellow guests are quiet during quiet hours (10pm-8am) but if not… Yes the walls between the rooms are very soundproof - no voices or even water pipes. The room doors, however, are heavy and most people don’t turn the handle so they bang loudly. Also, noise easily escapes under the doors of other rooms (crying babies, folks talking loudly after a big night). There’s so much to like about Cristina Enea Rooms - the location, very comfortable beds and pillows, great storage - but when the number one purpose of accommodation is to get a good night’s sleep then I’m not sure I can recommend…
