Boavista Guest House

Just returned from a 2 day stay here after visiting Porto for the Champions League Final. This is a small, friendly guesthouse only a short walk from the direct Metro line to the airport and about 20 minutes walk to the City Centre We stayed in a twin room on the 2nd floor. The room and bathroom were quite small but modern and perfectly clean and comfortable. Breakfast was continental and served in a pleasant dining room or on the small outdoor terrace. I would’ve liked perhaps a little more choice at breakfast e.g. fruit or a greater selection of pastries but what we had was tasty and fresh. Covid restrictions being managed well Antonietta and the staff are very friendly and helped us with directions and public transport queries. Service was great Would definitely recommend this place for a short stay at a more than reasonable cost Thank you

I asked a room in high floor and it was really like that, the view was excellent and with much silence. Something small the biggest was the shower but for 4 nights without problem. There was water and two pompons in the refrigerator as welcome. The comfortable bed. All clean every day. Very functional hotel: WIFI very well and enough bottles to thank you. Just breakfast, with very rich cakes is what changed every day. The rest was always the same. The coffee improved. The hotel is located in the centre and near the Picaría street with various bars and dining sites.

I cannot begin to say enough good things about this hostel. First off, I was in Porto for a little more than 3 weeks and stayed here the whole time. This hostel is incredibly clean with Lucia (owner) and her staff working very hard to keep it this way. The rooms are clean and boast large steel lockers to store valuables and personal items. There is amazing communal spaces, including outdoor patio and garden with plenty of seating. The kitchen is a decent size and is well stocked with the supermarket being only a few blocks down the street. There is a free (basic) breakfast that consists of juice, cereal, fresh buns and jams. This all said, it is the staff that make this hostel extra special. I actually had a few of the staff take me out and share some of their favourite spots with me, which included watching the sunset from the Palacio de Cristal. Overall, I would recommend and would gladly plan a trip back in the future myself.

Comfortable rooms and location easy enough to get into all parts of the city using Uber, which are very reasonable and cost around 3 euros to the furthest point at the river. You could walk but my father has some mobility issues and the uber was much faster, allowing us to expore poroto without tiring from the walk into town. The hotel is kept well, is cosy and inviting once inside, dont be put off by the exterior. Rooms were very well designed for the price bracket. Attention to detail of items in the bathroom need to be addressed though. Soap dish was loose on the wall as was the faucet on the bathroom sink. Small details that bring an otherwise very nice room below its potential. Although a little firm for me, I still slept very well on the bed. No external noise heard and quiet and effective air conditioning. The safe was an issue for me. We had 2 rooms and the safe was not bolted into the wardrobe, you could remove the safe if you wanted to. This makes the safe redundant and concerned me. The front desk also do not have their own safe for guest valuables. However we had no issued and our belongings remained untouched. The hotels did lock our belongings into a storage room on our last day. I would definitely stay here again and I think this hotel offers both an element of luxury whilst remaining a mid priced option. The staff were also very helpful and attentive.

Great location close to the Metro, although a bit noisy as there is construction outside and a barking next door. The rooms are tiny with minimal amenities. This is not a 4 star hotel as our package promised. Just a heads up, they charge you for extra coffee pods. Staff here is professional and very helpful-they wear many hats! They helped us book an amazing tour. Walking distance to shopping, an amazing indoor food court, and grocery stores. The breakfast room is very nice, and has good selections.

I stayed here with my daughter for 2 nights in July 2023. Location Getting a taxi from the airport was quick and easy the taxi rank just outside arrivals. We arrived around lunchtime and got a taxi easily, plenty waiting and no queue. The journey to the hotel wasn't too long. Arriving at the hotel you do have to carry your case up a few steps at the entrance just something to be aware of, and my case was fairly weighty as we were away for a week in total. Not sure if there is another entrance to the hotel. There is a small lift to the room, we never had any trouble getting the lift when we needed it. There weren't any stairs that we could see other than the fire escapes. Once inside the hotel had a cool calm traditional feel to it. The staff on reception were really lovely and check in went smoothly. We were given vouchers for a complementary drink at the bar One of our rooms wasn't ready, we arrived about 1pm but we were able to get the key for one room which was great meaning we could drop our luggage off in the room and freshen up. My room was a reasonable sized well equipped double. I think some of the other reviews I read suggested the rooms were dated. I thought of them more as traditional style. Dark wood fittings. There was plenty of storage, a safe, comfy chair as well as desk and chair. TV with good selection of channels, mini bar, complimentary water and a packet of crisps. The bathroom was a good size, complimentary toiletries and a generous sized bath with shower over. All in all a very comfortable room which I felt was good value for what we had paid. My daughter had what i think was described as a family room so not sure whether they put an extra bed in if required but it was a really good sized double think it had a king size bed. They gave us rooms next to each other on the first floor which was nice The room had a large window overlooking the terrace below which let in a lot of light. I can't comment on breakfast as we were on a room only basis. There is a lovely bar area and outside terrace. Only downside the wooden tables and chairs outside did look particularly worn they were just in need of a fresh coat of wood stain really. The hotel was on a quiet street within walking distance of the old part of Porto. There was a bar/cafe just down from the hotel and a small supermarket just on the next street about a minute away perfect for stocking up on snacks and things and the after sun we forgot to pack. Very reasonably priced and taking card and cash. Just one thing to bear in mind I found that I used more cash than I expected quite a few of the bars and cafes we went in only took cash so something to plan for as I think I had got into a habit of carrying very little actual cash these days. It doesn't take long to walk from the hotel to the river, albeit we went down some very steep streets and steps. Porto is very hilly but well worth the effort of all the climbs Less than 10 min
