Hostels in Southern Region, Iceland

We have a 1 night stay at Midgard Camp during our 9 days road trip in Iceland. It is our 2nd stop hotel of our trip. Though the room are not big, but it is comfortable, good and cosy enough for all. The family rooms comes with 1 double bed plus 1 bunk bed enough for all 4 of us. The whole place is very vibrant, friendly staff, nicely decorated and energetic yet peaceful and quiet for individual enjoyment. The whole place is very well maintained and It is very clean even the common toilet as I bathe there to avoid waiting for our private toilet to save some time. The common kitchen is for all guests and is well equipped. We cooked our hot meal as well as breakfast there. We can also enjoy the complementary coffee/tea from the hotel paid breakfast. Overall, We enjoy our stay there even though it is just 1 night. The location is easily found with the GPS, you wouldn't miss it. Highly recommended this place. Also, really appreciate the friendly staff giving us a round tour of the place explaining where are the common toilet, hot bathe tub, dryer for our swim wear should we use the hot bathe tub and sauna. This is indeed exceed our expectation actually. 10/10!

Stayed at The Fox Hostel from Nov 23–24, 2025. The facilities were clean and well maintained, and the staff was very kind and helpful. We were lucky enough to see the northern lights, and the room was spacious enough for two people. The building and facilities are new, and the kitchen is very functional. It's also spotlessly clean. The staff are friendly, so I have nothing to complain about. If I had to say one thing, it would be that a group of about 10 Koreans who occupied the dining room for over three hours was terrible.

Overall, it was a good location because you could walk to the falls as well as do a day trip to Vik. I think you could skip the museum that's nearby, but overall this is a great location to start your trip if you're coming straight from Reykjavik.

The room is very open, the health is very good, the environment is small but complete! The only downside is that the sound insulation problem needs to be improved. But as a homestay, the environment is very good, very close to the city center, parking and shopping are very convenient!

Just a five-minute drive from Black Sand Beach, the hotel offers a large, well-equipped kitchen with plenty of dishes and utensils for guests to use. The environment is really nice, and the heating in the hotel is excellent. I really enjoyed it.
