Having just stayed at the Marhaba Palace for a week I decided to provide an honest view of this hotel. There are good reviews and also bad reviews, which all carry valid points of this hotel. I will break down my review into good points and bad points, which will hopefully provide you with an idea of what to expect. This is meant to be a 5 star hotel, however having stayed in many hotels set your expectations at about a 3 star. Good Points: The hotel is located on the beach which was nice with plenty of sun beds. There are two outdoor pools, the main pool is salt water and the smaller pool fresh water. This we feel should have been the other way round. The pools are clean and there are plenty of sunbeds around each pool, and there is always someone there to help with the mattress and putting up the umbrella. The entertainment staff are good, although they are a little absent at times, and need to engage a little more. The beach restaurant is OK and the food at lunch time is fine with some good choices. The main restaurant is OK and breakfast you can usually find something to have. you can also sit outside while eating and soak up the Sun. There are safes in the bedrooms and a fridge. Separate toilet and then the shower room. The cleaning staff keep the rooms clean and change the towels every day. The location of the hotel is good with the harbor just a 5 mins walk away, and a small park with fair rides and roller-coasters just opposite the harbor, which is not expensive. There are plenty of games for people to join in with during the day, from water polo, to beach volleyball, archery, with some table tennis tables available. The pool staff were great with a small tip, we never went without a drink throughout the day brought to you on your sunbed. Bad Points: The bedrooms are tried and most of the furniture has seen better days. The beds are quite hard, handles missing off draws and wardrobes that don't close properly and no shelves to put items on. Most of the main restaurant staff are more interested in talking with each other than noticing you need something. The choice off food in the evening is very poor and it is difficult to find something, we ended up eating out 4 nights out of the 7, which defeats the all inclusive part. The wine is very dry and very cheap, and the quality of the drinks and cocktails is very poor, they use a juice machine for all cocktails, which is water based, so no real juice and very limited choice. There are very few drink choices for the children either. There are only 4 lifts in the hotel and half the time 2 of them did not work, meaning you could wait 10 mins for a lift, and when it came it was full. The children's entertainment in the evening did not start until 9pm and again was quite poor and the adult entertainment was the same. Overall the hotel is OK if you accept all the above.
