Restaurant only for a Sunday meal. Carvery only tepid, meat been standing maybe overnight. Roast potatoes and cheesy broccoli, very hard, peas like cold bullets. Yorkshire pudding cold and greasy. Inedible. My husband had chips like he has never seen before, he couldn’t ear them. We ordered drinks, 10 to 15 minutes later they came to take our food order, we had to request the drinks. 4 girls behind the bar plus manager and we’re not busy. One girl had her long hair flowing front and back of her, not good for serving food and drinks. To top that I was then blocked in the car park by the pot washer, who was parked up not in a space, I had to wait on him coming to move it. A**osphere not great in the pub plus a very noisy table in middle of the bar with what sounded like drunken lads. Not a great Sunday lunch, but we tried it.

Visited with an old work colleague on Saturday 16th March. Staff very helpful. Food and drinks were good, although a bit top end price wise. We sat in a little (could say private) area, near the window, within the restaurant which was quite nice. Nice comfy Chesterfield type chairs. Being super critical, the chair arms need re-covering, as large foam areas clearly visible. However, we came for lunch and not to inspect chairs, so just an observation. On the whole, everything good and we’ll visit again.

After reading last review I wondered what we would walk into Arrived went to pub bar , girl showed us to the room explaining that if we left early we would have to us fire escape & there was a band on that evening Saturday would it bother us . Room liveable clean yes could do with deep clean Room large ,fresh towels, warm water & bath Music finished at midnight did not have any complaints good music Fire escape was easy to leave by Free car park It suited us for one night but would not spend more than two evenings there

Rooms are located above a pub, therefore, if you're traveling for business, there will be music and voices until about 10:30 PM in the room. The biggest problem is the very low water pressure in the bathroom, making it impossible to have a proper shower. In the morning, the only exit is through the fire escape stairs, so if you need to retrieve something from your car after the pub is closed, you won't be able to re-enter the hotel once you've left. There's no breakfast in the morning; however, there's a nice café across the street that opens at 8:30 AM. Therefore, if you're a business traveller I wouldn't recommend this hotel.

We had a birthday celebration meal in a private room for 20 people. The pub asked for the orders a week in advance for all 3 courses. The car park is tiny, somewhere that offers rooms you’d expect to be able to park. Starters were fine, nothing special, the soup of the day was laced with pepper but just about edible. For main courses, 2 of the party had steak which were duly introduced as a medium rare and a well done. One of the party had the bacon cheese burger which was pink and very undercooked, he didn’t eat it. (Photo attached). He didn’t send it back, he didn’t want to have a replacement as it had put him off and didn’t want a fuss at a celebration. When the plates were cleared the uneaten burger was noticed. The man who cleared up then tried to justify this pink burger by saying the chef had cooked it like a steak????? Gaslighting at its best. At no point was the diner asked how he wanted his burger cooking and I’m yet to dine in a restaurant that offers a rare burger. For a decent sized order you’d expect an apology and a simple removal of the meal from the bill, not so in this place. The desserts were brought out and the waitress said that the chef had not got out enough fudge cake. Bearing in mind that they had the order a week in advance this was surprising but also confirms that everything is frozen. I wouldn’t eat here again if it was free.

Sorry to say my room has not been cleaned with large crumbs on the bedroom floor and the bath has not been cleaned with hairs present. The toilet seat was not clean at all. I was expected to walk out of an upstairs emergency door to exit the building down an outside stairs in a morning as there were no staff to open up on a morning to allow me to walk down the normal stairs and out of the main door to the car park. I am recovering from a broken ankle/leg and the thought of carrying cases down an outside metal stairs without safety grips on each step on a frosty morning was not something I wanted to do. I was shown a back door route around the large wheelie bins to exit to the car park via a large gate. Not impressed at all.

The condition in which I found my room upon my most recent stay was shocking. Besides the general lack of hoovering and dusting etc. strange looking stains can be found in various places around the room. After finally getting into bed I was in disbelief to find multiple bed bugs crawling around the duvet covers. Having stayed at my fair share of hotels whilst away on business, majority of them being in the third world, The Broadoak is certainly up there with one of the worst. And to top it all off no members of staff are on site after a certain time to discuss these matters with leaving guests completely isolated and stranded.

Stayed here as part of a business trip and was shocked by how incredibly dirty the room was. Bathroom was full of hairs and the bedroom carpet has clearly not been vacuumed in some time as there was dust, mud and broken glass on the floor which cut my foot. My colleagues room had highly questionable stains on the wall and what may have been a bedbug crawling around the duvet. Will definitely not be using this hotel again, highly disappointing and surprising given the generally positive reviews the hotel has received in the past.

The hotel was nice the room was large with a big bed, comfortable and clean, the pub downstairs was good, nice pub food, overall i would recommend, however, a couple of negatives are: they advertised a free continental breakfast which is in fact just a juice box and an alpen bar left in your room. The other thing is you have to exit via the outside steep metal fire stairs in the morning which in itself is quite difficult with your bags but on the morning i left it was snowing so was pretty treacherous so not good if your not good on your feet.
