Amanek Beppu Yula-RE

Travel with a group of friends to Beppu but only 4 of us decided to stay at Amanek for 2 nights. This was the best decision ever as we were closed to the JR station, eateries, Tokiwa shopping mall, Donki and the beach were within walking distance. Only few staff could speak English. Those who speak Japanese only also try their best to serve the guest. I am impressed by how clean and new the whole hotel is. Best of all, I love the free flow of juices & beverages. You could also do take away in the UCC coffee disposible cup. Love the choice of either western or local breakfast with free flow of side dishes. I am surprised by how big the bedroom is and spacious bathroom. The gym equipment tho basic, are new & in good condition. The onsen is clean & modern & I love the warm rooftop pool with an awesome view! Amanek is thoughtful to provide guest with a basket to hold all your onsen needs. Upon check out, I was overcharged for my 2 days of breakfast. The staff was quick to rectify the problem & refunded me on the spot. Yes, would definitely stay in Amanek again in my next visit to Beppu! Thank you for the awesome stay!

I spent my first two hours doing what I haven’t done for almost three years, driving along the snaking roads in Japan. Arriving at Amane Seikai you feel euphoric, the seafood kaiseiki wasn’t the best, but the sake was good, and I was still giddy from seeing the spacious (1776 sq feet) junior suite with its own ocean view pool, jacuzzi, open-air onsen bath. “Room” 230 is in the new wing (according to my booking.com description), the apartment/room is not especially stylish, except for one little bottle of water and some coffee/tea, the mini bar and fridge were empty, but it has a spectacular view and you’ll still get your ocean view from bed and feel the constant gravitational pull of your private open-air onsen. I got up at 6ish just to catch the first rays of sunlight and to listen to the sound of the waves. Last but not least, the staff that checked me in was really nice and spoke perfect English ( coz he is from Nebraska ☺️)

Staying at this hotel in Beppu is a perfect trip, very good traditional Japanese-style hotel! The hotel is located at the foot of the mountain, contact the hotel in advance, the hotel will send a car to the Beppu JR station to pick up and drop off. Environment, catering, service is two words: perfect! The entire hotel is composed of 11 suites, Japanese gardens, small bridges and three open-air hot springs. The Japanese-style hot spring hotel is the ultimate expression here. By the way, the mountain road at the entrance to the hotel can also be explored. The bamboo cedar trees and eucalyptus trees in the mountains are very sweet. It is said that the monkeys will steal after the cockroaches mature. There is also an amusement park 2 minutes away from the hotel. The hotel has a free admission ticket. Take the Shangshan cable car to the suspension bridge in the garden to see the Beppu Bay and the city view. There is also a taming show like a duck race in the park, very funny! Do not say anything else, look at the picture.

The location is perfect because it is located in front of Beppu Station. The hot springs can also be very good because they can have a series of stations and hotel forests. In the morning, the Viking was just right and the curry was delicious. The parking lot was also easy to understand and free next door. I would like to use it again.

This was bolt hole no.1 on our Rugby World Cup weekend, it was a good choice! I had already booked a nights stay here on the Saturday of England's rugby QF v Australia. We hastily arranged a Friday stay when it became clear commuting from Fukuoka to Beppu was going to be a major issue on match say. Turned out a great plan! So 2 nights, we enjoyed the Spa which me and my wife made full use of. The outdoor baths range in temperatures and size. At the time we stayed there, it was the chosen bolt hole of many a rugby newspaper hack! There was Messrs S Jones and M Cleary of the broad sheets and M Samuels of the Mail, amongst others. We also had rugby correspondents from Sky Sports news. Funny choice since Oita is quite a commute from that hotel. Anyway, I digress. Hotel rooms are plain but comfortable plus large enough. Walk in showers and breakfast had a wide selection. Friendly staff but an odd gown and slippers rule (not strictly enforced, just as well as slippers were too small as were garments). For both nights, we enjoyed drinks in their basic lounge area. Beers were purchased from a vending machine. Usual fayre of Asahi type later, not great but ok. The place is up in the mountains about a 20 min bus ride from Beppu Station. We ate in the evening in Beppu, plenty of choices. All in all, a fun stay.

The teppanyaki dinner at Shenheen was delicious. Everything was perfect, especially the Japanese hands. The room was large and equipped with a bath, which was very comfortable. The hotel has a shuttle service to and from Beppu Station. After checking into the hotel, it is very convenient to visit popular attractions such as Umi Jigoku.
