I've stayed at a lot of budget hotels in my day, so I'm used to being ignored, but I was pleasantly surprised at the service here. The manager saw we had small children and went out of his way to move us to a bigger room at no charge. He even offered to help with our luggage, which was a first! Cleaning staff were similarly kind and friendly. It is still a budget hotel, so don't expect the Ritz, but the rooms are clean and have been updated/painted recently, the AC and wifi work great, and it's a safe and convenient location. Plus you can't beat the price. I've never written a hotel review before, but I genuinely want this place to succeed. Good luck guys, and thanks for the great stay!

Breakfast is simple, but it can also be full. The house is old, the sound is not good, and the price is relatively reasonable in this location. Berkeley Student Residence is 2-3 km away.
DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Berkeley Marina

This place is beautiful located right on the water on the other side of the San Francisco bay. Not only is there a beautiful view of the city. But you can also see the Bay bridge and the Golden gate bridge very clearly. The hotel itself has been updated It was very clean, our room was comfortable and it is affordable. I would recommend a room with a view of the bay. There is a great aquatic park that the hotel is connected to which makes for beautiful walks and gorgeous sunsets I would definitely recommend a stay here.

The location is convenient, close to BART and in the center of town; the room is large and you can cook your own meals; there is free breakfast every day; but there is no service. Maybe in the United States, extra tips are required for services.

Very old American style, the rooms are clean and tidy. Because of the old style, the facilities in the room are different from the modern ones. The room size, bed and bathroom are smaller. Breakfast is an ordinary American breakfast, a variety of bread jams and coffee and juice, very convenient. It would be better if the price could be cheaper. The key is to be too close to the University of California, Berkeley, to go to school to work or visit relatives should be a good choice.

Downtown Berkeley
The hotel is located in Berkeley city center, very close to UC Berkeley campus, the BART station and many restaurants. The hotel building is a bit old but functions well. The front door of the hotel is locked all day, and you will be given a key to enter the building. This makes one feel safe and quite comparing to the motels in the around area. Check in and out was easy and fast. I stayed in a queen bed room with shared bathroom. The room is not big, looks basic, but with all necessary stuff, even with a microwave. The bed was comfortable. The sink in the room is also convenient. The curtain in the room is not big enough to protect privacy. I hope this can be improved. The shared bathrooms were cleaned everyday. Each floor has two shared bathrooms, so most of the time you don't need to wait. The shower room is a bit small though. Generally hotel rooms in bay area are very expensive. If you don't mind to share the bathroom, this hotel is definitely the best deal you will find in Berkeley city center. Of course, the hotel also has rooms with private bathroom, at a price comparable to other motels in the area. Would recommend this hotel if you have a limited budget.
