Novotel Berlin Mitte

Berlin City Centre Berlin|2.63km from Der Neue Weltempfaenger
In summary: Superb breakfast, good rooms, pretty good location (but there are better in Berlin), a few details could be improved. Good value for money. Accor has a huge range of hotels in Berlin, this is for them a midrange offering. The rooms are of reasonable size, I had a huge bathroom, minibar and room safe. Very clean. Bed surprisingly comfortable. Free wifi good enough for video streaming (there's also 'premium wifi' you can pay for). TV and heating controls fussy. Shower gel holder in the bathroom remained empty throughout my four day stay though there was liquid soap by the sink. Reading lights in room below average. Reception friendly, a little chaotic. The hotel restaurant is open in the evenings, snacks and drinks available after hours. Locked luggage storage next to reception. Breakfast is really nice - great coffee and fruit juice, all the rest as you would expect including some cold fish dishes. One level below an 'omelette bar' status but still pretty good for this price level of hotel. Location in Berlin Mitte is pretty good - they're two U-Bahn stations and several bus stops within a few minutes' walk, even though some of the bus schedules are a bit disappointing. Nikolaiviertel is 5 minutes walk away and if you increase your walking time to 15 minutes you can get to Alexanderplatz and Museuminsel easily enough. There are better location hotels in Mitte but it's quite OK really. Good value for money; rates vary quite a bit by day of the week (so if your travel days are flexible play around with your stay dates). I generally stay either more downmarket or more upmarket than this but it's interesting to see how a midrange hotel works - quite OK, though as often in this category of hotel proactive detail management doesn't get priority. I would recommend.

This is a modern functional hotel (which we booked via BA holidays) apparently popular for conferences, so you get the picture. Four of us went for a city break. The hotel is well situated within easy walking distance of Gendarmenmarkt. Spittelmart U-bahn is 2 minutes away. Easy and welcoming check-in. Our rooms were comfortable and spacious. The bathroom had an excellent walk-in shower although the wash basin had the depth of a birdbath. What was surprising was the amount of wasted space in the bedroom with a great void between the bed and the door which could have been used for some proper drawers and shelves. As it was, there was only 1 drawer and 3 shelves, one of which was useful only if you were 2 metres tall (see photo). The wardrobe, if you could call it that, was an open hanging space, but it was situated at right angles to a padded seat (see photo) making accessibility difficult and there was only one chair in the room. Tea-making facilities were available but instant coffee only and powdered milk. We used to take a small jug of milk from breakfast and keep it in the fridge. There was a very good and comprehensive breakfast with just about everything one could want. As a morning tea drinker I cannot comment on the coffee which came from a machine, but there was an excellent selection of leaf teas. The hot food was OK, but nothing cooked to order so that eggs were either warm scrambled or hard boiled. Staff were very helpful and dishes promptly refilled. We didn’t use the restaurant for dinner as the menu looked pretty basic but there are restaurants within walking distance. All in all, nothing special but I would still recommend it for a short stay.

This hotel was welcoming and gracious, even when I changed my reservation a couple times. I booked well in advance of our stay. We had a lovely little room and it was well-priced and affordable for the tourist season. The staff was helpful and friendly. The most amazing thing about this hotel is its location. This neighbourhood has it all. It's close to coffee shops, amazing food and an eclectic blend of people who are so chill, yet so fun. We joined in their party-like atmosphere on the weekends as they shared drinks in the local park, and coffee at nearby cafes. This hotel is quieter than thrones down further and more famous at the nearest larger intersection. We LOVED Berlin: it's my new favourite European city, and this neighbourhood with its perfect mix of people is one of the reasons. We also caught the trams and Underground down the street at the corner. It goes to the main station. The hotel has some bikes to use but they were too big for me. NO A/C, but good beds and pillows. Small rooms. The history of this small hotel is amazing. Good food and coffee in the am, or pay for coffee nearby. Most ppl in the city speak English, and are very tourist-friendly. Perfectly SAFE. We were the ones paranoid lol. There is a rental bike shop 4-5 doors down with a super-friendly owner. If you're a cyclist, this is the place for you. You can ride anywhere on the city's protected paths, then leave the city and ride to the next small town. Amazing sites on the way. 30k to 100+

24/7 on-site staff, daily cleaning, clean rooms, beautiful balcony, and great in-room services. Overall my absolute favorite place to stay in Berlin! My friend was able to book a suite directly over mine and we could take the outside staircase to one another's rooms. Loved my stay!

I had booked in January for March, it was hard to find a place, all jumped for the lockdown and problems about what we already paid and at the end of September we came, a moment spartan but there is no cooker in the room, great breakfast, strategic position walking find everything, out to the right find all the restaurants you want from all the world cuisine and spend little food well, Sunday market in the front park and always animated area, in this period few tourists have lowered prices, Berlin in this strange and empty period of tourist concern

I was a little worried based on previous reviews, but this hotel was an excellent value and nice place to stay. The rooms were updated and clean. The amenities are a little basic, but that wasn’t a surprise given the affordable price of the room. The staff was friendly and helpful. The patio and garden in the back of the hotel was a nice place spot to sit after a day of sightseeing. I didn’t try the breakfast (and it seemed a bit expensive relative to nearby cafes) but it looked good. The location was great. There are good public transportation options and it’s a great neighborhood. There were some noise issues (a nearby playground during the day and some noisy neighbors at night), but neither were intolerable.

Overall I would say that this hotel absolutely delivered what it promised. Our room, with huge (opening) windows that overlooked the street, was gorgeous and luxurious, exceeding my expectations and delivering very good value for money in Berlin. We loved the neighbourhood (and the tree lined street) and a combination of walking and the tram got us to where we needed to go. The pool was closed for a conference during our visit but it was clearly flagged on the website that this might happen. I didn’t even see the pool as I think it is covered to create a meeting space. Very cool! So regarding the pool, it’s a gamble. You know that going in! We parked onsite for a reasonable fee and the hotel’s location made driving in and out of Berlin easy. Staff were helpful when approached but not particularly warm and friendly. But they must get sick of Australians asking to go in the pool! There’s a popular bar onsite which is nice - it’s nice to be in a place where people want to go. I’d stay again for the lovely room and the very Berlin location!

The location is very good, next to the subway, easy to go anywhere! It is also very close to the Berlin Wall Relics Park, less than 1km on foot. But the room is too small. I'm 183 and my feet are hanging on the bed. . . . . .
