NH Collection Budapest City Center

Budapest|1.42km from Marastoni Jakab Marker
The NH Collection Budapest City Center provided a decent stay for my first (and hopefully not last) visit to Budapest, Hungary. I stayed nine nights in November 2021 and opted for one of the residence apartments with a second floor. The amount of space provided was impressive. Loved having a balcony on both floors. Did not use the smaller bath downstairs very much. The apartment provided a microwave, refrigerator, dishwasher and combination clothes washer/dryer. I was very pleased with he amenities offered in the apartment. I was very happy that the upstairs bathroom had a shower, which did NOT leak! Many other hotels are installing showers with a completely useless half shower door. The upstairs shower was a full enclosure and did not suffer an extremely wet floor with damp towels after showering. Bravo NH Collection Budapest City Center! The staff at the hotel were very helpful and I very much appreciated that the breakfast staff did not turn guests away if they showed up for breakfast after breakfast had ended. Guests were still allowed to have breakfast as long as food items were still available to be taken. However, after a few days, the breakfast options are a bit boring (same every day). The coffee is outstanding and offered all day long. Cookies and other snacks are available as well. I noticed that the business center computers still had Windows 7 installed?! Perhaps change that and update the operating system on the computers. Needless to stay, I did not use those computers. As others have mentioned, the hotel is within walking distance to an accessible MTS underground train station, Lidl grocery, the New York Cafe and a very good burger restaurant (Vaslap). All things considered, I would probably consider staying again or recommend to others opting to visit Budapest. Hope this review helps!

Mercure Budapest City Center

The staff are really friendly. I stayed in hotels here and there in Hungary for a business trip, and this one is the most like the picture. It has convenient facilities and downtown areas nearby. It's good value for money. I don't recommend hotels near the river.
M-Square Hotel

We loved this hotel. We stayed here for 4 nights and wish we had booked for longer. The hotel is set back in a square and not immediately visible from the road but no difficulty in finding it. We stayed in room 701. The beds were really comfortable and the room was spacious. No noise from outside or inside the hotel was heard which enabled a great sleep. We had a coffee machine in our room but it had no instructions and we had no idea how to use it but there is a coffee machine at reception available all the time which supplies delicious coffee. The buffet breakfast was more than we could ask for with fabulous scrambled eggs! We had a late flight but the hotel supplies lockers for luggage free of charge so we were able to make the most of our last day. All members of staff were helpful and friendly and our housemaid was lovely. This hotel is in a lovely area for exploring and very central. We would definitely return!
Vagabond Downtown

We loved our 5 night stay here, we opted for a 1 bedroom apartment. We were amazed at how big, clean and well equipped the apartment was (there were even a couple of laundry pods to do washing if you wished). The staff at reception were really welcoming and happy to help giving great advice. Location is fantastic as close to all the main sights with the metro, tram and bus stops at the top of the road. Close to some brilliant restaurants like Mozel Tof, Ghetto Goulash and Pork and Prezli (make sure you book) Really handy that the direct airport bus stop is just a 5 minute walk too. Would highly recommend and would definitely stay again if coming to Budapest.
Ramada by Wyndham Budapest City Center
4.1/568 Reviews
We chose this hotel as it has just been opened and it still has this feeling of freshness. This comes with some drawbacks as well but let's focus on the advantages first. One of the most important one is naturally the location. It is just next to the main tourist places and you can visit all the main sites on foot. The room we got was decent in size; it overlooked the tiny yard which meant that it was - mostly - quiet. Apart from the air-con units which turned on and off at night both inside our room but also the generators outside. You could hear them when you opened the window. Breakfast is next door in the Mercure- albeit really good- it cannot be reviewed as Ramada breakfast. We found two things really frustrating which will prevent us from staying there again. The first one is the parking space. The hotel has no own parking lot and all they offer is looking for a place in the street. This is no good because in this area not only it is payable but also limited to 3 hours per day. Another option is a public parking lot a few hundred meters from the hotel. Not very convenient if you have luggage. The last one is the parking next door at the Mercure for ca 25 EUR per night. The receptionist at Ramada told us not to bother asking as it is usually full. Still we did ask and we conveniently parked there. The staff at Ramada are young and rather inexperienced compared to the Mercure. Finally, the glass door to the bathroom... OK with some pattern on it but still rather inconvenient when you share a room with someone. Also the elevator broke down one evening and was not functioning until noon next day and the hotel has 6 floors... All in all a decent place with no frills.

Absolut City Hostel
3.8/525 Reviews
The hotel is very comfortable and very comfortable and is very central. The staff is nice and there is the possibility of cooking. With the exception of this, all the rest is a disaster. Rooms do not have clothes or pads, there are only dust-shaped tents that let the light pass (there is an outer lamp reflecting exactly on the window), and the noise of the street and light let not sleep. The rooms are very narrow, the furniture is old and bad and, above all, something has happened that should never happen in a place that should host you: the box attached to the wall just above the bed, Fortunately, we were not sitting or extended at that time (a tragedy would have happened), and you can see in the uploaded photo, specifically that we had not even filled it. The staff then removed the box without even apologizing or understanding the severity of the incident, told us they would have talked to the ”boss” but then they didn't let us know anything.
