Hotel Cala Fornells

This hotel has a great location on a quiet bay. The staff customer service ethic is excellent. Food and beverage are delicious, with a great choice for breakfast and dinner. Shuttle bus is a useful facility, as is the roof swimming pool. Special thanks to Catalina for her helpfulness and friendly smile. We will return in 2025. Roy M. England.

This was the second time we stayed at the Hotel Cala Fornells. It is definitely a stark contrast to the mega-hotel next door. Very comfortable, good food, a wonderful location and fatnastic personnel. The hotel is a bit outside of Peguera, and you need 20-30 Minutes to walk into town, but the fact you are not right next to all of the tourist traffic is definitely a plus. Depending on the time of day, you can get a taxi from downtown to the hotel for about 5-8€. Although a pleasant walk, a taxi can be helpful if you have been walking all day. We are playing to stay there again the next time we go to Mallorca.

What a gorgeous little hotel, I first visit Majorca in the early 1960's and have some wonderful memories of those holidays as a child....this hotel has brought those memories flooding back. The location is absolutely perfect, although I would say a car is essential. The staff are so helpful, polite and efficient. We have a room on the 3rd floor and the view over that crystal clear sea is amazing. It's a very comfortable good sized room, the bed is superb, amazingly comfortable, the air-conditioning works very well, much needed in early October, plenty of hot water for the shower whatever time of day we've used it and good quality toiletries provided. In all honesty we are used to staying in 5 star establishments and we haven't felt at all short changed staying here. It's very very quiet on an evening and we've both slept very well. The buffet at breakfast is excellent, no complaints what so ever and although we've only had dinner in the hotel twice it's equal to the restaurants in the area which are a lot more expensive. I'll miss my walk across the road in the morning for my swim in the sea before breakfast, what a way to start a day swimming towards the rising sun. I'll also miss our evening drink on that lovely terrace. The rood top pool offers stunning views and although the hotel appears to be full there's never been more that a eight or ten people up there when we've gone for a lounge in the sun and a swim....there are dozens of sun loungers to choose from!! Also pleasing that despite so few people using the area that the bar has remained open. My wife has a dairy and gluten intolerance, eating here has not been a problem from her. All in all a great little hotel in a gem of a location that in my book offers fantastic value for money.

Classic adult hotel located in a very quiet scenic beach location. Rooms are spacious with full sea views, roof top swimming pool has a bar with plenty of sun beds. Breakfast and dinner is buffet style and both excellent as well as a generous outdoor terrace which is open all day and evening. Service is prompt and friendly. Ladies , Ines, Davinia,Carolina on reception are super friendly and helpful also arranged our late evening airport pick up.

Well what a debacle! This is not the first time we stayed there. On our last trip the deal wasn’t bad although you’d really struggle to get 4* for this place, 3* at best! Actually we quite liked the fact that it is a slightly old fashioned traditional hotel (in this case ‘Faulty’ towers) and waiter staff basilesk! In arrival last year we had dinner last year and it was tragic! Grey bland boiled to within an inch of its life and miserable staff serving it! Deep joy. The rooms basic and the double was 2 twins pushed together. Having asked why all we received was shrugged slopey shoulders, no interest in acknowledging our gripe at all. Roof top pool was clean but characterless. A single 1 hour visit ensured we weren’t returning there! The best thing all in all is the outside space amazing views and a super pianist one night. Receptionist was very helpful and friendly. So we thought we’re English fools and we will revisit for the location really. All booked and 1 month before we travelled was cancelled by the hotel. They couldn’t wouldn’t explain why but to be honest we know why! The price we booked the room against was a lot lower than august so they were keen to dump us for higher paying guests! Disgusting attitude especially as when I discussed this with them on the phone with the manager they didn’t care less! I eventually read them the riot act explaining that they had reneged their contract and the promptly reinstated the booking ! Funny that 🤔 . Anyhow short and long of it I injured my back a week before travelling unable to make my booked date and asked to rebook on a different date. NO! Was the reply, we don’t allow rebooking and don’t give refunds sorry. Well they certainly wearnt sorry, after a scan I offered a consultants letter proving my state of health, the manager couldn’t care less so we lost £2000 for our stay. I don’t want a reply from the hotel because all of their replies contradict any complaint, they just lie through their back teeth! My advice is do not stay at ‘Flowery Twa-ts’ sorry ‘Faulty Towers’ no even 1 night it’ll just aggravate you me you’ll feel you’ve ripped off. Do visit for a drink on the terrace but I’d limit you exposure there!! Thanks for nothing Cala Fornells.

This has to be one of the best hotels I have stayed in for a long time. It may be 4* but the service is 5* and more. It is an old fashioned hotel and that is part of the charm. The rooms are immaculate and a sea view room can't beaten. There is a lovely seating area at the front of the hotel for drinks and coffees and an excellent restaurant where they went out of their way to accommodate 10 of us on the terrace for a fabulous evening meal. The swimming pool is another of the hotels gems - on the top floor with plenty of shaded areas under the trees. We were there during the storms and I was looked after by all the staff with a particular mention to Patricia who went above and beyond to help out. Please stay here and take in it's calm, peaceful, kind, thoughtful atmosphere. I couldn't recommend highly enough.

Our forth visit to this wonderful 1940s hotel, every time we go its always just as good. The management staff the hotel and facilities properly, bars, restaurant and rooms. The food is as good as anywhere on the island. This is not inexpensive but it is good value.

Stay here for the beach and some great restaurants nearby but that’s it - needs a lot of work to be considered a 4/5 star hotel in comparison to what’s around across the rest of the world. No coffee machine in room. Air con didn’t work in first room 234 but after asking for it it to be fixed twice and it not I requested a room change - initially they weren’t keen as only more expensive rooms available and they were implying I pay more which I highlighted the aircon not working was not my problem. Room 234 was an older room but we actually liked it a lot more - it was much bigger and had a nice courtyard over looking the mountains and also overlooking a small plunge pool. New room was 002 (wouldn’t recommend this room at all) is much smaller and over looks the driveway and very far away from reception / pool areas etc. easier to go through the car park then hotel to get to room. Small side on view of ocean from this room. Nice they changed us rooms when aircon didn’t work but maybe the aircon should just work. Beautiful beach at the foot of the hotel and you can see it from the pool. All pool areas were nice - they could do with more pool chairs as often hard to find one - had to sit at restaurant table and pounce when people got up - there is plenty of space to add more chairs by the adult pool so they should. Amenties in the room were okay however as mentioned no coffee machine nor a kettle which we thought for a so called 5 star hotel odd. House keeping was good. They run a shuttle into main ***** - great service if too many ppl waiting they will run again only 5 min drive but would be better if it ran later into the evening - taxis aren’t great in Mallorca and often wait for ages until they arrive 20-40mins is not uncommon. Sebastian on the front desk was excellent - very helpful all the time. As you can see from my review the location is beautiful and you would stay here for that but this hotel does not have the amenties / services that other 4/5 star hotel resorts have across the rest of the world so come expecting a 3 star experience and you’ll have a wonderful time.
