Karlamuiza Country Hotel

We wanted to go to the Gaujas National Park because of the castles around Sigulda and Cesis and lucked out founding this place to stay over night in. It is a lovely bed and breakfast style hotel set in Gauja National Park. The grounds have an apple orchard, a couple of ponds and a good short hike nearby that takes about 20 minutes one way. We booked the Christian room and it was nice and cozy. The beds were very comfy and we liked the number of pillows we got. There is a mini fridge, tea station and a small sitting area with a table in front of the TV. We came in and had a good sleep at this quiet property. The shower needed some help as the door slides were not properly mounted when we arrived and the wheels were off their tracks for both slides - I remounted on my own but the property may want to look into a repair or replacement. The shower was still pretty good and got nice and hot. My wife loved this place and said if we had more time she would have loved to have brought her paint or read a book. The property is very picturesque with some ponds, nice trees and there was a storm nesting on the property when we went. All the rooms are upstairs and there is a big couch in front of the window that overlooks the property and the dining room area is quite spacious too. If you plan on going for a hike here bring some good shoes. The trail can be quite muddy after a rain but it is in decent condition. The hotel has a map and can make suggestions for hikes in the area. The national park is full of good hikes too and the hotel itself is near Sigulda which has some good moderate hikes near the Gutman Caves and castles in the area. The hotel also has some bikes and kayaks on property. We felt the breakfast was good and we believed that most of the items provided were local like the farm fresh eggs and the apple juice. You have to put in your breakfast order the night before and if you book with supper it seems you have to call ahead to make your choices. The hotel is in the countryside so there isn't much around but nature. Cesis is a 10 minute drive away and Sigulda is about 30 minutes away. There are some awesome restaurants in Sigulda and the Cesis Castle was an absolute must. The towns also have lots of stores open until 10 pm if you want to pick up some snacks before going in.

An ideal place, next to the hiking trail, the Amata River, so you can go for a scenic walk, after which, returning to your room, a peaceful rest awaits there, no noise, beautiful gardens surround, the whole territory is perfectly tidy. Only positive emotions and a surge of energy after staying here for the night, because the beds were also comfortable.

Nice and calm location, beautiful scenery, food was very good and selfmade. Bathroom door was hard to close, communication could be a bit more.

It was our third visit at least and as every year - a wonderful, heart-warming, relaxing stay. As a couple or family of 5 - we always enjoyed Kārļa Muiža, the welcoming hosts and perfect base for day trips to Līgatne, Sigulda and Cēsis.

Really beautiful rooms, warm and friendly welcome. Helpful staff. Very tasty food from local ingredients. Good suggestions on what to do and see around the hotel. One of the best experiences!

A truely great, quiet place in countryside. Very friendly people. Everything was there that was needed. Absolutely recommendable if you are looking for an authentic, peaceful experience in a historical building in very sweet landscape. Great breakfast.

We have stayed there already third time and we will definitely come back. The place is amazing, food is delicious, hosts are really nice people to talk with and the hotel have a history. Hotel and rooms where we were staying are cozy and nice. The location is perfect as near the hotel there are many walking paths and less that 20 min drive is city Cesis. It is beautiful getaway with a lot of opportunities around.

we booked online & went for the expensive ( 35 Euro ) 3 course meal , we had to choose in advance & selected different options, we arrived around 5pm with Dinner set for 7pm , We went down for meal ( no Table Choice ) ordered Drinks ( not part of meal cost ) & were both surprised when Broccoli Soup arrived for Starter as it wasn't either of our choices we decided to consume ( it's a good 15 Minute Drive to nearest restaurant) after soup we enquired about our choices & were told that The Admistrator ( very George Orwell) should have taken the choices off weeks before ( not mentioned at all either on arrival when we might have chosen to eat out or when we sat down at Table) & that all that was left was Trout ( turned out to be a Fillet not whole Trout) & Beef Lasagne ( Dry around edges & past best ) given that I had now consumed Beer & we were Tired we chose to Suffer their Hospitality, there was no real Apology just Blaming the (online) Administrator although they didn't charge me for my Beer ( priced 4 Euros in Menu in Room but 5 Euros at the Menu at Table). The place itself was ok although Sophies Room which we stayed in was Gloomy as the only window in Main Room had Trees obscuring the view. I would never book food online with them again.

We have been coming to this place for years now. We love the hotel , it is so peaceful and relaxing, people working there are always welcoming and nice. Nature around is amazing.
