We chose this hotel b/c of the rate. But.. We were pleasantly surprised by the property when we arrived. If you are looking to be in the middle of downtown or a traditional hotel plaza, this isn't the place for you. But, the location is decent for a 1-2 night stay and easy access to San Diego. The Staff was friendly, knowledgeable and effective. We asked for extras, they appeared quickly. The gentlemen that checked us in was super friendly! (I didn't get his name, but he was working the evening of 3/23) What's Near: - Directly Across the Street: .... Tacos el Gordo (amazing!) .... Carl's Jr ... 7-11 ... el Pollo Loco You won't starve nor need any overpriced hotel snacks What do you need to know about the hotel/room? - The hotel is well-appointed and swanky. It gives the vibes of a boutique hotel - the lobby, the fixtures and the decor/details of the room. The room, however, is not large. Again, it is a great option for a solo or couple traveling. And I recommend 1-3 nights max in lieu of the space (if traveling with 2 or more people). - If you are noise sensitive, do not take a room on the front of the hotel. - And if you are a light sleeper, stay on the top floor to avoid hearing people walking and/or talking on your head. Surprise! - The hotel offers a breakfast buffet for about $7 per person. The breakfast is in a small area available via key access. If you have ever had Holiday Inn Express' expanded continental breakfast - its comparable. Definitely work it. NOTE: The hotel has exterior corridors. Its not a big deal, but... just keep that in mind.

This location is definitely overrated. I was expecting a better experience based on the rating. It is a property needing an update. As one reviewer noted, you can still smell residual cigarette scent. The halls are not well-lit. Our room had furniture that was chipped and stained. There was black mold growth on the window frame. The eggs were obviously made from powder and not very good. On the positive side, the employees were all very pleasant and accommodating. The waffles were very tasty. The bed was comfortable and the towels were plush. I will not stay at this hotel again.

We were in town because my son serves on the USS Abraham Lincoln and the ship was coming home from an 8 month deployment. The trip was divided up between Embassy Suites Arcadia and Best Western. First when booking a hotel when you’re from out of town, it’s hard to pick a location. We picked Chula Vista due to the proximity to the Navy Base Coronado and the reviews of the hotel. I will say this, we stayed at Embassy Suites first then came to this hotel for Friday and Saturday then back to ES on Sunday. Guess what? The beds are the same. The beds at this hotel were very comfortable and it appeared to me they used the same bedding as ES white bed spread and gold sash. I usually have to bring a mattress topper when I go to a budget hotel because 9 times out of 10 the beds are super hard and uncomfortable. Imagine my surprise, when I did not need to use my topper and was very comfortable. That’s a good point comfortable beds. The Hotel is not in the greatest part of town but the hotel is well lit and I felt safe. The room was large and the bathroom was larger than the one at ES. The showers had very nice water pressure. It was obvious however that they removed the tub plug to keep you from taking a bath. That could be a CA drought issue, not sure. We did not get a “grab and go” breakfast, but using the Covid Excuse to only offer pick up and go brown bag breakfasts is disingenuous since we are well past covid at this point, and it’s obvious they just don’t feel like dealing with offering breakfast. Embassy Suites offers a full breakfast so don’t use the CDC COVID excuse, because nobody is buying it. Now a few CONS: Even though we left the Make up Room sign on the door, the maid did not clean our room and we had to go the front desk and ask for clean towels and Toilet Paper. Not a big deal but come on. Now my biggest pet peeve. We drove in from Los Angeles and at 2pm I get a phone call stating my CC had not gone through and if we didn’t pay by 3:00 they were going to cancel my reservation! CHECK IN IS AT 3! I have never been to a hotel that ran your CC an hour before check in! THANKFULLY we were only 5 minutes away when we got the call checked in using my Capitol One card and all was well but what if we had gotten stuck in traffic and didn’t arrive until 3:30? I had used my Discover Card to pay for Embassy Suites and there was an “over use” hold on the card so when they ran the card it didn’t go through. Ok so what? Usually you confirm on a CC then pay for the room when you arrive, and if you’re a “no show” after midnight then they can charge your CC, not run it an hour before check in then threaten to cancel you reservation if you don’t arrive by 3! I have never had a hotel run my CC an hour before check in. Something Fishy if you ask me. Overall I would stay there again I guess although I probably won’t have occasion to do so.

So for starters, check in time is 3:00pm, I showed up at 4:15pm, come to find out there was no rooms ready til 1hr and a half later & by the looks of it, my boyfriend and I weren’t the only one that had to deal with this. It was definitely an inconvenience, however they did offer a later check out of 2pm so we took what we could. Now as far the hotel itself, it was very very clean! There was no complains on that end, beautiful! Aside from getting a late room, the hotel met both of our needs. We’ll definitely be recommending & staying again.

I am a long term guest here and being away from home can be tough. All the staff are very pleasant and friendly. Alice and Lynette have been absolutely wonderful! They are always ready with warm smiles and greetings, professional and thoughtful, willing to have a brief conversation with anyone to try and make everyone feel welcome. It helps make the tedium of being away a little easier and makes it feel like a home away from home. The hotel overall is super accommodating and nice. The rooms are spacious, comfortable and the added kitchenette is a huge plus. A good quiet, safe place to relax after a long day. The in-house gym is nice, and there's even an outdoor fireplace to sit and relax, especially in the evenings. Definitely a big recommend if you're in the area and looking for a good place to stay.

Very clean. Close to the school, there is a shopping center near Chula Vista, two outlets are also very close, and there are countless large supermarkets. . . . The boss family is very friendly. . Although the entire building is already very old, the price inside is very clean. . . The omelet for breakfast is especially delicious! ! ! But remind new people to stay in the United States, American hotels do not have toothpaste toothbrushes and slippers, so remember to bring your own! ! !

My husband and I decided to stay in the Cula Vista area, due to cost effectiveness and close proximity to San Diego. We were there to attend a family member's college graduation in San Diego. First off this hotel may seem a bit out of the way, but the drive to and from San Diego was not bad at all. This hotel offered us great service, upon check in and throughout our three night stay. Our King room was very clean and spacious enough for our basic needs. I only ate the breakfast once and I found it to be good. The hotel is also very close to eateries and shopping strips. I only gave it four stars because whenever we were in our room we could hear a very heavy footed person walking around above us (even in the middle of the night). Overall I recommend this hotel.
