I am recently back from my 3rd visit & stay and your whole team were truly outstanding in every way. My first visit to Clovelly was from 15th - 17th November 2023 and I so enjoyed the real privilege of staying at The Red Lion for 2 nights. I came for a further 2 nights 13th - 15th Feb 2023 for a break and most recently I stayed again for another 2 nights from 7th - 9th November 2024. I can’t tell you how much I appreciate the fabulous team spirit of everyone from Jo who again met me on arrival at reception, all the restaurant, bar and house staff again set the highest stands of charm and efficiency with truly delicious food. On every visit Richard Gibbs the General Manager, was superbly and seemingly effortlessly efficient and very endearing. I have already booked to go back again in February 2025!

The Red Lion was exactly what we wanted it to be for a few nights away to celebrate our wedding anniversary. The "superior" room lived up to expectations, over looking the harbour, and with easy chairs to enjoy the view from the comfort of our room, including a fabulous sunrise. The room was clean and had everything we needed. The shower room was perhaps on the small side, for the price of the room. We ate in both the Snug and the main restaurant, with each offering something quite different to the other. Good selection of drinks on tap in the bar. The kitchen was very accomodating with dietary requests, with one of us needing gluten free which they fulfilled without any issues. Yes, the restaurant is pricey, but the food was delicious and well thoughtout, using veg from their own gardens. Breakfasts were excellent, with a great cooked breakfast for vegetarians, certainly not just an after-thought as it is in many places.

Amazing 3 days - nothing was to much for the wonderful staff, the rooms were fabulous and we can’t thank the manager Richard enough for arranging a room move to room 5 for my birthday best views ever .. and Prosecco and chocolates. Food was sooo good - restaurant or bar …we will certainly be back soon.

Absolutely perfect! The location is stunning and so peaceful, the room was spotless and spacious with an amazing sea view! The food in the harbour restaurant was delicious! Drink wise they have a great choice of local beers and ciders! The staff were great and so friendly they made us feel so welcome! In fact we enjoyed our stay so much we stayed an extra night! Richard and his team do a wonderful job and it was down to the experience we had that we chose to stay longer! We are looking to return in a couple of months we enjoyed our stay that much!

Efficient service they were busy we sat outside just up from the hotel overlooking everything great setting we had a coffee a coke and chips and coleslaw all come in paper or plastic packaging great idea has you would not want to drop glass outside I was given a pager and when it went off I went and got the chips this worked really well taste was good but portion size to small so for that reason a little over priced

We celebrated our silver wedding with an overnight stay and evening meal at the red lion. The whole experience far exceeded our already high expectations. Everything was perfect, great beer, great food, brilliant staff, room overlooking the harbour, immaculately and luxurious.
