Jetwing Colombo Seven

Everything went smoothly. This is not my first time staying at this hotel. They acknowledged that I’m a repeating customer and had a welcome back note with some chocolates waiting for me in my room. I highly recommend this hotel and will stay there again next time that I’ll be there.

I have stayed at many Jetwing properties across Asia over 20 years. Colombo Seven lets the brand down. It's poorly maintained, the staff are catatonic and demotivated, there are communication gaps between the departments. This suggests that the problem is with the management team at this specific property. Circumstantial evidence suggests they are lackadaisical about maintaining a culture of quality, probably don't conduct much ongoing training and do not empower or validate their teammates. None of the customer facing staff I met looked like they wanted to be there. I mentioned poorly maintained; there is mold around the AC vents and in the bathrooms, the furniture is scuffed and could at least do with a polish. The towels are worn thin, even the staff's uniforms are in some cases ill-fitting and mismatched and in other cases look like they've seen a few too many washes. Perhaps the property is struggling and low on cash? Well it's in Colombo 7, this is the poshest area in town. As far as I could see while I was there, the occupancy was high, there were lots of walk-in F&B customers, and there were various conferences during the day and private events at night. I 'd say they are not low on cash.. But I will bet they don't rely very much on repeat hotel guests.

We booked Jetwing Colombo Seven for our last night in Sri Lanka, specifically because we wanted some peace and a good night's rest before our flight back to Europe. Unfortunately, that never happened. There was a party going on two floors below us with music so loud that we couldn't sleep a wink. The music went on until 12:30 AM. We started calling reception from 9 PM: 9:00 PM — "The music will stop at 10 PM." 10:30 PM — "It will stop at 11 PM." 11:30 PM — "We'll ask the organisers if they can turn it down." No real solutions were offered at all. No alternative room (even though the hotel clearly wasn't fully booked), no actual intervention — just empty promises. The only silver lining: reception told us the manager would speak with us in the morning at checkout to work out a solution. When we checked out at 6 AM, the manager was nowhere to be found. The "maximum" compensation we received? 30% off our restaurant bill a measly €10, while we spent €200 in total (including food and spa) for a completely sleepless night. When a hotel can't deliver on its core product a good night's sleep. all the extras (rooftop bar, spa, etc.) are worthless. A complete disappointment. Never again.

Super value hotel just out of the main hustle and bustle. Great room, great breakfast, great staff and with rooftop pool. The prices are slightly cheaper than the big hotels with  excellent customer service. I found all the staff very friendly and the breakfast excellent.
