"Located at the most central avenue of Colombo has very nice view to the Indian Ocean, particularly from the rooftop garden and swimming pool, which probably is the largest in Asia. I was in this garden in 2018 and now is like a roof forest. The gym is well equipped and with panoramic view. The hotel is at the top of the mall, the dream of my wife. Every hour there was a shuttle to a tropical beach just outside Colombo. We did also the complementary half day tour to the city that was well organized. Excellent service and comfort."

"Hotel is in the heart of Colombo and very prominent location in Sri Lanka. I love the garden view. Food is excellent choices. Staff everyone is very courteous and well organise and presentable. All staff are consistently helpful. Special thanks to the restaurant staff Kamani ,Randil and Imesh. I will definitely comeback to this hotel when my next visit. My appreciation to all staff members during my stay."

"The Den 23 is a perfect place to stay. The owner is very helpful and goes into detail when explaining and recommending places to visit. He also provides you with a leftlet that has some basic sinhala words. The roof top bar has an amazing view of the city. The staff is helpful and I'll recommend this place if you want to go around Colombo with little effort."

"There is an elevator! I have wounds on my feet that an elevator is really a saviour to me. I like the free morning tea and coffee, even though only up to 10am, which is still good enough. All staff members are kind, serving with a smile. The only defect is the shower is so weak and hot water only comes out after 10 minutes. Book earlier, all the dorm beds are full all the time"

"Enjoyed the hotel customer staff service by a senior Mr Samantha who helped to checkin. Breakfast was good as usual and waitress are attentive. Also Ms Watsathi - housekeeping supervisor making sure the junior staff did a good job on cleanliness. For lagoon seafood restaurant, waiter failed on best hygiene practice on fresh oyster - fallen shaved ice been placed back to bowl . Hope it will never happened again. Both manager and supervisor came apologize and told that will remind waiter’s hygiene importance. They offer complimentary dessert & replacement oyster- declined politely and paid my bill in full. Great to be back to this hotel as always for years. From the helpful bell man to hotel restaurants. Hotel is beside a small mall , to get tea fr Dilmah or at Supermarket or get medicure nails done etc. Did my morning walk to Galle too. Thank you for good memories."

"Great location, close to a lot of restaurants, cafes, bars, and One Galle Face Mall. The hotel is well kept albeit old. The pool is great. Beautiful and cozy lobby and cafe. The greatest of all is the staff. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. Taj Samudra is the perfect home away from home whenever in Colombo. Will definitely stay here again."
