Our first time in Cala d'or and will most definitely be coming back soon. We stayed in the superior rooms and they were very comfortable and clean. Our rooms were cleaned, beds changed and fresh towels every second day. Our daughter loved how the maids folded our pj's and displayed her little soft toys every visit. It's those little touches that go a long way. Staff are all lovely (especially Rudy) . Pool is a great size with lots of loungers (just get up and out early). We were self-catering but added breakfast on a few of our mornings, which I would recommend. Other places I would highly recommend for food are Andy's Bar, Marivent and Rustic. Tropical Gardens for cocktails and a great atmosphere. Honestly it's a little gem and we can't wait to return

We would not return to this hotel and would like to warn other potential guests about the dangerous flooring around the pool and the lack of sun beds/space. The pool area is dangerous, the tiles are the so slippy, we had some near misses as adults and my children (wearing pool shoes) are covered in bruises and cuts (having to seek first aid every day). The actual pool floor has raised stumps which my children and others kept stubbing and cutting their toes on too, I have never seen a queue for first aid before at a hotel! The manager acknowledged the problem but nothing was done about it other than a couple of warning signs. The pool area is severely overcrowded and nothing like the photos online, I felt so claustrophobic and hemmed in. Again the manager admitted that there were not enough sun-beds, there are over 400 guests and we counted less than 160 sun beds. Even if there were more sun beds there was no space to put them (they were already 4 rows deep to the pool edge with no space in between other guests beds). They also had a lack of parasols which most guests want in the July/August heat (the ones they have are fixed so only cover a few beds so most people had to buy their own). We were told no reservation of beds but after breakfast all the beds were taken and clearly people were putting their towels down very early. If you did manage to get a bed they were extremely uncomfortable and filthy dirty, like they hadn’t been cleaned this season. I felt so anxious that I couldn’t see the children in the pool, especially given how dangerous the area is so I struggled to relax. Another issue which impacted our enjoyment of the hotel was that the Wi-Fi coverage is very poor -I couldn’t open a webpage or emails the whole time at the hotel even in the bar/reception area but connection was fine in restaurants in town. We loved Cala Dor and eating out in the beautiful restaurants but would never return to this hotel.

We just returned home last night from a five day stay I will the start with the positives as to why this is an absolute fantastic place and then to the reason why we wouldn’t return ! Hotel is in lovely location close to beaches, shops and not far from main ***** and fantasy park and happy park for the kids, the hotel is kept very clean in all the main areas and the rooms are cleaned every two days, The room itself is very modern, we stayed in superior room which have been newly renovated and it was fab , has hob with two rings , microwave , kettle , toaster , nespresso machine , and lots of pots pans cutlery everything you need if you want to stay in and cook , even has washing up liquid and sponge brand new in packet for you to use ! Beds are comfortable and black out curtains which are ideal for travelling with small babies and kids , showers are fab ,lovely balcony area , good working air con. I was very impressed with the rooms ! Also we travelled with small baby and child and after 10.30/11pm things really quieten down and they all got full lovely nights sleeps there was never any late night activities or noise going on just what you want when travelling with small kids ! The Animacion team are fantastic work so hard all through the day till night with the kids there was always something to do and a good variety for kids from parrot shows / Disney show / bouncy castle / Zorb balls in pool and inflatables ! the bar staff were lovely , as were the cleaning ladies and reception. We never had issues getting sun beds on any of our days which some people have mentioned , i did see issue with parasols there so big they cover a large amount of area / some smaller ones around might be a better idea , as one day I put the parasol by our seats up as to have baby under shade and seats beside us weren’t impressed as they wanted sun so it’s a bit of a disaster ! Also the lifeguard on duty on our last two days spent most of her time going around taking towels off reserved sun beds which I understand people shouldn’t do but I think it would be more in her line/priority to watch people and kids in the pool and not the sunbeds have a different staff member do this ! Kids loved the pool and the slides and sprinklers in baby pool there fantastic! Now to the bad part I read the reviews about the tiles by the pool being slippy so I had bought my child the swim shoes before we went which did help to be fair but nothing could of prepared me for how bad it was , every day we were there there was an accident where a child fell and hit there head but nothing could of prepared me for our last morning , an older lady fell and hit her head on the tiles by the slides in front of our family, lifeguard was nowhere to be seen and had to be called to assist with the situation, she was not conscious or alert for a good few minutes and paramedics were called most parents had to keep the kids away and distracted as the situation did not look good thankfully the lady cam

On arrival we was very happy with our stay. The room was spacious for the four of us and very comfortable. The kitchen was very basic but we didnt plan on making much in the room anyway as we were half board. I would recommend bringing your own cleaning wipes as none of this is provided and the shops nearby were expensive. The fridge was fairly big and nice and cold with a small freezer section inside. Beds were comfortable. Towels were tiny. They are only replenished once every 2 days which was a bit of a pain as the rooms have walk in showers which spill out especially with kids using them. The maid didnt clean our room, only replenished towels and emptied bins. No fresh bedding. The pool area is lovely on first look but after a few days this looked and felt really dirty. Sunbeds need cleaning daily in my opinion. The pool was ok, it did feel a little slimly in some spots . During our stay there was a sand storm which made the pool area even worse so for one day the pool was closed and it was jetwashed down for the whole day but it still looked really dirty after. I think the hotel should do this daily after the pool closes like all other hotels in hve been too. The food was fairly nice the first few days but deteriorated towards the end of the week. There is a lovely Indian restaurant 2 mins walk from the hotel. Sunbeds were very tight. You could barely put your legs down the side and had to exit the bed at the end. The animacion staff were nice but very flat compared to other places i hve been. Not many people stayed for the entertainment. The gangway walk and inflatable crocodile was a hit with my kids and at no extra charge to guests! Reception staff were great. I dont think we would return, this was more of a budget friendly holiday for us. The restaurant was very overpriced. A small lunch and 4 cokes came to 69 euros (2 adults 2 kids) and was very basic. Also ask to check your receipt as we was overcharged and so was another family we spoke to. cala dor is lovely and great for families. The karaoke bar down the road and marleys bar was our favourite evening spots and the kids play park was great too.

If like me you were worried about staying here after reading some of the previous reviews, you have NOTHING TO WORRY ABOUT! We are well travelled and have stayed in various star rated hotels and I can say hand on heart that some of this hotels facilities beat some of the 5/6star hotels we’ve stayed in. Like all hotels of course the poolside is slippery, this hotel is no different. However It’s not any more slippery than any other hotel and NOT a big issue which others have made out In previous reviews! DONT LET THE SCAREMONGERING stop you booking here. My children wore pool shoes and never once slipped over even when they did run (which I tried to stop) kids are kids, they will run and play, however if you don’t protect your children by making them wear pool shoes of course they will slip when running. Location 5/5 Staff 5/5 Facilities 5/5 Children’s entertainment 5/5 Rooms 5/5 Special mention to Rudy who was by far a stand out member of staff from day one, always with a smile, caring and attentive. My son has a dairy allergy and Rudy went above and beyond each day to ensure he could have ice creams, food etc that were safe for him. Another special mention has to be the animation team. They work so incredibly hard day and night and my children adored each and every one of them. The games, inflatables, and shows they would put on kept my children entertained and happy. Please don’t change anything about this hotel, you in my opinion should be a 4 star hotel and everything about your hotel is 5/5. We will definitely be back and can’t wait to visit again very soon. Thank you so much for a fantastic week

Please read this review if you are generally scared or worried about previous reviews. I visited this hotel with my family end of August ( wife , 8YO , 4YO and 2YO ) This hotel is EXCELLENT. location is brilliant , access to 3 surrounding beaches with cala esmeralda the closest and my family’s personal favourite. Hotel pool and slides which is like a mini water park is brilliant. The scaremongers regarding the pool being slippery is ridiculous, my children did wear pool shoes and we tried our best to make sure they didn’t run but they are children and sometimes did and guess what THEY DIDNT SLIP. We did of course see some people slip ( me being one of them on one occasion) but that’s just because the pool side is wet. Most people walked with care and during my time I hardly saw anyone slip. The main pool is bigger ( the pools deep ness was excellent for my 8YO son - we felt safe and swam safely the entire time) than I thought from the pictures and really maximise the pool games available such as the slides , inflatables and running platform which my eldest loved and me. The food is OK. You get what you pay for… it’s not 5 stars but the selection is OK. Breakfast and lunch were great and we ate out some nights which the selection of restaurants which are only a short walk away are brilliant our personal favourites were Indiana Johns and a paella restaurant that was incredible. Dinner at the hotel is OK, they should label what the food is and add more variety to the kids food. I would also suggest a couple more dishes for the adults as it would improve the dining experience. My kids loved the ice cream station. Special mention to Rudy and team so friendly and just brilliant people, made the experience feel like home. The animation team are simply incredible humans they work so hard and apply passion every night! Special mention to Miri who my 4YO daughter loved and would make us plan our night whether we were dining in or out we would be back for the mini disco and shows. Well done to all of you. The room is excellent and spacious. Air con is good only criticism I would share is I always feel there should be irons in the rooms but you have to rent them… the overall site is inclusive and safe for kids. Overall this holiday was a hit for my kids and us and are definitely coming back to Cala dor playa.

Fantastic hotel for children and families with different ages. We went as a large group of around 26 in total and we all had a fantastic time. Hotel is in a great location and the entertainment team is fabulous given the apartments are self catering. Hotel is spotless and the rooms were stocked with cooking utensils and things you’d need to enjoy the week. The pools are perfect for all ages and I loved how thoughtful the layout was. The slides kept the kids entertained for hours and the mini slides for toddlers worked a treat too. Few things to improve in my opinion: - Prices as the bar for a small water and ice cream are way too expensive. Given it’s a family hotel with kids everywhere it becomes very expensive unnecessarily. A bottle of water shouldn’t be more expensive than a fizzy drink given the heat and need for water - The pool bar queues were always long as there was only one member of staff. One evening I waited for 15 minutes for one drink and there was only 4 people in front of me. Adding extra bar staff would make a huge difference - Place something around the pool areas to avoid the slippery surface. I witnessed all ages slip and not necessarily from running. We packed pool shoes given the recommendations on here and I would encourage others to do the same - The sun loungers need to be upgrade as the quality isn’t on par with everything else in the hotel These are small improvements which I think would improve the guest experience and overall satisfaction. All in all, I want to thank the team for a wonderful holiday and we will definitely be back again. Keep up the great work

We have just returned from a 2 week stay and given the recent reviews, we were apprehensive. Yes, the pool area is slippery but with the amount of people I don't see how it can be avoided. We did see children fall but usually when running and not wearing pool shoes. The entertainment team were great and all worked very hard. There was a good range of activities on offer for the children to join in with and there was no pressure to participate if they didn't want to which was nice. We found the pool area to be quite expensive for drinks and ice creams. €2.50 for a small water for example. Ice creams were roughly €3.50. The pool area is busy but we were always able to get a sunbed. However, the shade is limited. There are only 10 large umbrellas around the pool which do provide plenty of shade when up, but annoyingly some people would choose a bed under the umbrella then put it down. I think the hotel should ensure all umbrellas are up throughout the day. There are many beds without shade for those that prefer the sun. There is also a lovely grass area just behind the pool that you could put a bed and has lots of natural shade from trees. The sunbeds do need replacing though! They are very uncomfortable! We paid for a superior pool view room and in hindsight wouldn't have done this as it was very noisy! I would expect noise from children, but it was the maintenance team at 7am every morning that woke us up! One particular morning we watched as they used the leaf blower, then cut the grass (which proceeded to go everywhere) so the leaf blower came back out. Then they stood on someone's balcony with a hedge trimmer to cut back plants. I assumed the room was empty until I noticed children at the window watching what was going on. They also jet wash around the pool area which is great, but not at 7am! Especially when the pool doesn't open until 10 and everyone has been awake since 7. I would suggest a better time for this would be at 7pm when the pool has closed. The hotel is in a brilliant location. It is just a short walk to the beach. There are 2 lovely beaches just 5 minutes either way and about a 15 minute walk to the main town. Overall, we enjoyed our holiday. The hotel is clean and perfect for young children. Hopefully they will take notice of suggestions in recent reviews to improve some areas.
