We stayed at Maitai Lapita Village for three nights and had an amazing stay. The grounds are beautiful and our "hut" was very comfortable and had a small private plunge pool. The one negative for me is that in our room (and I was told all the others when I called to inquire) is there there is a strange and large TV and TV stand right in the middle of the room. There is no way to move it and it was a bit of an eye-sore and we ended up just trying to cover it up with our sarongs. There is an on-site restaurant and we enjoyed the breakfast and had dinner there one night as well. There is a pool that goes right out onto a small, beautiful swimming beach that has great views of the sunset. Most notable for us though, was the staff. They were warm, welcoming and overall incredible. From the check-in to the restaurant staff everyone was inviting and friendly. A special shout out to Vaea and the other ladies at reception who were so helpful in answering any questions and helping to organize our e-bikes. We would absolutely return...and plan to. Thank you!

Wonderful hotel! The staff are amazing--welcoming and super nice. Rooms are spacious and the air conditioning plus large ceiling fan works really well. We had a premium lake bungalow (room 103 closest to reception and then through to the bar/restaurant and pool/beach--a 2 minute walk at most) which had a large covered deck with seating and loungers. The hotel is quiet and set on beautiful grounds with lush vegetation; it is small enough that if you were in the room furthest from the beach, you would still be able to walk there in under five minutes. Next to reception is an interesting historical display--the hotel grounds and rooms are filled with artefacts and cultural pieces from Huahine history. Lovely crescent-shaped beach with ample loungers and umbrellas as well as shade from trees. If you love dogs, you're in luck -- there is a paddle board/kayak rental place at the end of the beach where three dogs live who come to beach and play every day. Water shoes recommended as there is quite a lot of washed up broken coral on the beach and in the ocean. Breakfast buffet was very good--plenty of variety from bacon and eggs-type to granola and muesli to fruit and yogurt to fresh meats and cheeses. We drove around the island and visited the only other "large-ish" hotel we could find (Hotel Le Mahana in Parea) and the Lapita gets our vote hands down. Mahana has a larger beach for sure, but the food is better at Lapita and the grounds are much nicer. PLUS ... you can walk along the beach to the Huahine Yacht Club from Lapita .., don't miss HYC's happy hour (5 to 6 PM)!

I can say enough about how wonderful Lapita Village is. I travelquite a bit and I can say this is one of the best places I've ever stayed. The waterfront bungalow was lovely - traditional architecture, large, nicely furnished/appointed, and very comfortable and quiet. The view from the deck was gorgeous - lily pads and flowers all around. The staff was so kind and helpful - especially Vaea at reception. The resort sits on a beautiful beach with incredible aquamarine water that was perfect for swimming. The restaurant was delicious and had great views of the sea and infinity pool. Lapita Village is perfectly located too, in walking distance to restaurants, the grocery store and rental cars and bikes. Oh, and they have an excellent massage therapist, too. I was genuinely sad to leave. But I'll be back for sure. Thank you for an unforgettable visit Lapita Viillage!

It was a wonderful stay of 3 nights. Unfortunately 1 day was unbelievable rain all day where our bathroom leaked and the toilet clogged but the staff were very helpful. It is a beautiful place and we would highly recommend it.

This hotel is beautiful! Stay here if you come to Huahine!! The room is large, comfortable and very well decorated. We had a garden suite with pool! Loved it! The grounds are gorgeous! The staff are so helpful & friendly The restaurant is excellent The pool and beach are lovely! The welcome you with a flower lei and cool punch! When you leave they give you a shell necklace! 10 minute walk to Fare (small town) to get some groceries, drink and go out for dinners Cannot express how much we enjoyed our stay at the Lapita Village. Stunning exotic getaway to celebrate our 20th anniversary - perfect place recommended to us to have a truly authentic Polynesian experience - we absolutely adored our authentic coconut thatched garden villa with our stunning black private pool - beautiful gardens surrounding every villa added a lot of privacy So quiet and private - except for roosters st night - bring your earplugs 🌝 Pristine whites beach with some amazing snorkelling Loved being a 2 min walk to the main town via the beach Able to watch the public outrigger canoe races next door Sweet staff - loved that an important Polynesian & gallery museum was a part of the hotel

Pros: - Gorgeous property, looks exactly like the photos. - Friendly staff. - Much less sterile and touristy than comparable waterfront resort properties. Good for a relaxing stay on the beach. Cons: - Air conditioning was woefully inadequate. Room never cooled or dried, and indoor temperature was significantly warmer than outside during the heat of the day. - Restaurant was host to several aggressive stray cats which jumped onto the tables to steal food. - Food was good but not great; fortunately it was also priced reasonably to suit.

Just finished out fifth stay at Lapita. We absolutely love it - great island, culture, people, snorkeling, food - Lapita and Huahine have it all. The rooms are perfect and the staff extraordinary. Great snorkeling just off the beach. The hotel is part museum and part hotel. The owners have done a wonderful job of preserving the historical elements while still providing guests with all the comforts they could want. The pool has been totally redone and is fantastic. So if you are tired of the crowds of tourists on Bora Bora and Moorea - check out Huahine. You will be so glad you did.
