石和温泉の宿の中で、最近我が家のお気に入りの宿です。 最近、石和温泉のパンフレット(HELLO ISAWA)に古柏園の社長さんのインタビュー記事があり、興味深く読ませていただきました。 107畳もあった宴会場を個室が並ぶ食事処に生まれ変わらせたなど、新たな時代のスパツーリズムを試みておられるとの事です。 館内リニューアル(リフォーム)もされているとの事で、今回来てみたら、また変わってました。 部屋は多分以前は和室だったと思わる部屋が洋室になり、ベットと椅子と小さいテーブルがありました。 ベッドがあってもそんなに狭くなく座布団もあり、和室風にも使える部屋でした。 しかし、木のベッド台のへりがマットレスより二周り位大きくて、足をぶつそうで、気をつけました。 電源を探していたら、後から気がついたのですが、新しいベッドの背もたれの上に電気のプラグがありました。 テレビは大きく、ユーチューブが見れます。鍵二本も便利です。 また大浴場の脱衣洗面エリアが、以前は昭和レトロの雰囲気でしたが、リニューアルされました。化粧水なども完備されています。 男女入れ替え制のお風呂の方は以前と同じですが、内風呂の両側に窓があり、広い大浴場です。 翌朝6時過ぎに露天風呂に入ったら、山々のあいだから日の出を拝めました。 7階にあるお風呂の休憩所からも近隣山々と、南アルプスの山々が見渡せます。 夕食は個室風のお食事処にでいただきました。 見た目も美しく、一つ一つ運ばれる美味しい料理に、つれあいも「年に2回位来てもいい宿だなぁ。昔とは全く違う。」と、親と来たという何十年前も前と比べて話していました。 今回も石和温泉BYOで、持ち込み料1000円で、山梨ワインフルボトルを持ち込みましたが、こちらでは山梨ワインフルボトルが2530円からでリーズナブルでした(ハーフは1540円から)。 それならわざわざ持ち込まなくても良かったね。」と話しました。 デザートの求肥イチゴムースは、食べたことないスイーツで美味でした。 なお、今回の食事にはローストビーフも鳥の水炊きもあったので、沢山食べる方も満足するメニューと思いました。 朝食バイキングですが、夕食時の個室風の部屋でいただきます。 バイキング時に、係の方がお盆やビニール手袋を渡してくれて、また係の方が常にいて、バイキングでも食べ物エリアがキレイで、気持ち良く食事ができます。 牛すじ煮込みがトロトロでした。またビビンバ丼があり、いろいろのっけました。 フルーツは4種類あり、朝からプチケーキでコーヒーを飲み、部屋にもコーヒーを持ち帰りました。 朝食後に、ふとお庭を見ると、お庭も以前よりキレイになっており、大きな華やかな鯉が池(人口滝あり)で泳いでました。 最後に、部屋の鍵のタグ(鍵番号が書いてある)が小さくて、鍵かどこかに紛れ込んで、見つからなくなったことがありました(後から見つかりましたが)。鍵についているキーホルダーは大き目が良いと思われました。 古柏園は最近来る度に進化していますが、以前の良さも残っています。 また季節を変えて、泊まりに来たいです。

Although the building is very old, when you go inside, every corner is clean and the quality of service is eye-catching. In a calm atmosphere, you can feel the blessings of nature. Because it is on a high platform, Mount Fuji can be seen beautifully in the distance. The check-in procedures were also very detailed, and the facilities, hot springs, eating styles, etc. were all explained in an easy-to-understand manner. A total of three meals were eaten, and each meal was very satisfied. The portion of afternoon tea is moderate, giving people a light meal feeling, and supper is a whole western meal. I also ate western food for breakfast. Because there are waiters at each table, there is no inconvenience. The hot spring is also full of fun, there is no one inside, and you can spend extravagant time. It is recommended for those who like hot springs to try it once. You can also go to and from the hot spring on the same day with lunch!

We enjoyed the gorgeous fuji view from the room which was exactly the same as the photo we saw online. The hotel provided free warm packs and snacks in the lobby which was caring. There were also welcoming snacks in the room. However, as far as we know, the hotel provides free shuttle service to/from Kawaguchiko station but it was disappointing that there were no way to book online. I tried to contact the hotel directly via email but received no response from them. Eventually, we took a bus from Kawaguchiko station and walked up the hill with our luggages, which was very inconvenient. Besides, the dinner style/menu was only available at dinner time so we couldn’t take it into consideration when we decided the date of our stay. Other than the above, the overall experience was nice with high CP value.

About 10 years ago, when I stayed at Toyoko Inn in front of Himeji Station, I also made a membership card with a face photograph for 1500 yen. Cons: 1. We specifically booked a room with a ”mountain view” hoping to see Mount Fuji. Our room was on level 3. Unfortunately, we were disappointed to find that our view only included the tip of the mountain, obstructed by buildings and electric cables. This was quite different from the picturesque view advertised on their website. Considering the high price of the room (SGD$800 per night for 3 persons), this was a huge disappointment. We strongly believe that the hotel should reconsider offering level 3 rooms as 'mountain view' rooms and reserve levels 4 and 5 for this category, as this feels like a misrepresentation. 2. Dinner was a huge letdown. We were served only 2 platters of meat (pork and beef) of average quality and 1 vegetable platter for Shabu Shabu. The selection was extremely limited. Although we were offered a Kaiseki Ryori (multi-course Japanese-style meal) for the next evening, there was an additional charge of over $3000+ yen per person for the upgrade. Despite the extra cost, this option seemed more appealing as we did not want to have the same Shabu Shabu two nights in a row.
