Traveller's Cave Hotel

This hotel exceeded our expectations and was great value for money. It's located on a hill, offering fantastic views over the town and making it easy to watch the hot air balloons. We stayed for two nights; we took a hot air balloon ride on the first day and took photos on the terrace on the second. The room was quite spacious with a window. The only downside was the occasional small rock fragments falling from the cave ceiling, but I suppose that's to be expected in a cave hotel. We could order Chinese takeout from the front desk, and the service was excellent. Since we had an early check-out and missed breakfast, they even prepared sandwiches and fruit for us to take on the road. Highly recommend this hotel!

Staying at a cave hotel was an interesting experience, but that's about it. The breakfast was terrible, and the room wasn't great either. The cleanliness left a lot to be desired, and the toiletries and towels were pretty dismal.

The room is quite spacious and has a lot of character. Being on a lower floor, you have to climb a pretty long set of stairs to get to the front desk and restaurant. However, there's also a door downstairs that leads directly to the street, so it doesn't affect shopping. The two little dogs at the hotel are super cute, and you can watch the hot air balloons right from the terrace, no need to go to the viewpoint.

Fantastic location! Perfect for hot air balloon views and sunsets. My only complaint is the 11 AM checkout; it feels a bit inflexible. They shouldn't rush guests out just to get new ones in. They should offer late checkout based on individual guest needs!

My friends and I, a family of three plus myself, booked two rooms. Our flight was delayed, so we didn't arrive until 2 AM, and that's when a series of unpleasant events began. First off, definitely avoid Room 8, the triple room! 1. The front desk staff initially gave us the wrong rooms. My husband and I only realized this after we had already huffed and puffed our luggage up to the fifth floor. The family of three on the second floor had already unpacked their suitcases and decided not to bother switching – they were too tired, and had a hot air balloon ride scheduled for the next day. 2. As soon as I entered the room and went to the toilet, I found it was full of tiny flying insects. It was absolutely disgusting; I didn't even dare sit on the toilet. They sprayed insecticide the next day, but that didn't erase the feeling – I still didn't want to go into the bathroom! 3. Just as I was about to lie down, I noticed debris falling from the ceiling (picture three). When we called the front desk, they said it was 'characteristic of a cave room.' Picture one shows the blanket the next morning – it was ridiculous! I woke up with little bits of debris all over my clothes and in my neck, and even in my water glass on the table. 4. The lighting in the room was incredibly dim. We had to use our phone flashlights to find things in our luggage. Is that even normal?! 5. The next morning, as soon as I opened the door, there was a whole swarm of tiny flying insects right outside the room. I almost laughed, it was so infuriating. We had booked for two nights. After waking up from the first night and returning from the hot air balloon ride, we asked to check out a night early. However, the hotel would only refund our room, not our friends' room. Since we had rented a car, splitting up would have been very inconvenient, so we just had to endure it and stay. Later, the platform tried to mediate for us, but the hotel refused to offer any compensation, and their attitude during on-site communication was also very poor. There were a few good points though. The rooftop platform for watching the hot air balloons was lovely, with lounge chairs and rocking chairs. The breakfast drinks were good, the location was quiet yet close to the center, and the soundproofing was decent. Still, everyone should choose this hotel very carefully.

The location is fantastic! I opened the door at 5:10 AM and saw hot air balloons filling the sky. You can take a shortcut from the back of the hotel, using the stairs to go down to Goreme town, which takes about 5 minutes.

This might be one of the highest-located hotels in Göreme, with convenient parking right outside. The hotel boasts a large rooftop terrace, perfect for watching the spectacular hot air balloon ascent at 5 AM. I booked a triple room on the top floor, which was spacious, and the bathroom in particular was huge. The breakfast selection was quite varied; it was perfect to catch up on some sleep after the early morning hot air balloon ride, then leisurely head down for a brunch around 10 AM. Due to travel fatigue and the climate, my wife developed a sudden cold sore. The staff recommended getting ointment from Emin Eczanesi in Downtown, which greatly alleviated the symptoms.
